Referee Changing Rooms

Does anyone know where football referees get changed?

"Lucy" Clark is the first trans manager in English Women's football, just wondered where he would change.

JK tweeted * When I was young all the football managers were straight, white, middle-
aged blokes, so it's fantastic to see how much things have changed.*

I make no apologies for the the Daily Mail link

@FlakyPoet no IW hasn't worked for years. Does a bit of advertising on X for some bottled sauce and promo items. Or used to. Think that was stopped as unauthorised advertising?

A bigger question is what are the FA rules about male managers being in the dressing room while the women's team are changing.

Male managers are not allowed in the players' dressing room in the women's leagues in England.

At all? So where do they do their pre-match and half time team talks?

Truthlikeness · 13/05/2024 22:02

At grassroots level, male managers do not go in female changing rooms - the pre-match talks are done pitch side, or they might go in the changing room after everyone has changed (after checking).
Female managers will go in the changing rooms while players are getting charged and they can do the team talk there too.
Managers don't need to get changed.

Truthlikeness · 13/05/2024 22:02

At half time you stay on the side of the pitch. It's often a long walk back to the changing rooms and typically you only have about 5 mins.
Referees (male and female) invariably turn up ready in their kit. On the rare occasions they needed to change they will not do it with the players - I guess like to maintain that separation - so will use a different room.

Big clubs have tactics rooms, smaller ones just find somewhere else!

Does IW still have a career? That vicious misogynist outburst seems really reckless.

I suspect IW's career is lurking on mumsnet and getting messages deleted.

It would be helpful if India could explain the difference between a cross dressing man and a transwoman?

SirChenjins · 14/05/2024 09:49

Their level of delusion, perhaps?

Interesting

And JKR would have seen this male person’s tweets about her in the past. Yet, again, she is being told to be nice to someone who is effectively her abuser. Her male abuser.

It never takes much to find the rest of the story, does it?

Helleofabore · 14/05/2024 10:15

So getting back to the OP. If any male manager insists they are a woman, as this one does seem to, will they insist on entering into the female change room?

CrappyBarbara · 14/05/2024 11:08

ValueAddedTaxonomy · 13/05/2024 07:31

just wondered where he would change.

Did you really, or did you just want a pretext for yet another thread on this subject, and for posting the photos?

I'm fully gc, but honest to god I don't think anyone gets anything useful from yet another thread for rehearsing anger and well-worn phrases. It wrongfoots the gc position, facilitating the sentences in that guardian article about mn the other day. In that article the author went halfway towards acknowleding women's reasonable concerns as expressed on mn, but then went on to add words to the effect of 'oh but the obsession, shading into bigotry'
If you have useful points to make, then make them. Don't just bob your pitchfork up and down.

Thank you thank you thank you for some words of reason for a change!!!

A decade ago TW weren’t busily inserting themselves into everyone female space they could find with no thought for the impact on women and didn’t demand everyone considered them actual women

Since when is refereeing football a “female space”??? I swear some of the posters on here live in an alternate universe.

AReasonablePerson · 14/05/2024 11:14

AliCantI · 13/05/2024 14:57

Don’t lots of women’s football teams have male managers and coaches? Hopefully there’s plenty of spaces for Lucy to change in without encroaching on the female spaces. And I agree with some others on here - celebrate the first transwoman referee on a women’s team, as they no doubt celebrated the first transwoman referee on a male team - as long as they’re not being celebrated as the first female ref. JKR is under unimaginable online harassment on a daily basis - occasionally she does a ‘For Fucks Sake!’ post and I can’t blame her but I prefer it when she writes her brilliantly crafted, eloquent posts - but she’s only human and I’ll forgive her this slight wobble of the halo 😇

I'm not aware that there has yet been a celebrated transwoman referee on a male team though. Odd that!

AReasonablePerson · 14/05/2024 11:15

In Women's football it is a female space - a sports space - in women's sport!

Funny how those horrible tweets from that man pretending to be a woman aren't in the news

Hopefully a lurking journo will pick em up and publicise!

What the actual hell??

I absolutely did wonder where they would change, as I remembered that bloody swimming judge who liked to get changed with the young girls!! Think it was Canada.

I wondered if the female refs and young girls would have to get changed with him.

I mean good on him for being the first transwoman ref, if that makes him happy.

But not good on him if he likes to get changed with women/girls.

And thanks to PPs who have answered my question.

And another swimming official, much closer to home than Canada. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12350741/Parents-raised-concerns-transgender-pool-official-using-womens-changing-room-time-young-girls.html

I think the rules have been changed now for swimming, but ffs, there should never have been the need to change the rules in the first place because decent men keep out of female spaces. If men are such perverts that they try to squeeze their way into changing rooms either to ogle teenage girls or to satisfy their own sexual kinks then someone should be saying “NO!” long before it is a story for the DM.

Parents' concerns over trans pool official using women's changing room

Anne Coombes, 65, who last week blasted a hotel spa for not giving her a key to a female changing room,  was volunteering as an official at the British Summer Championships in Sheffield.

I've just posted that to Jeremy Vine's Twatter and asked if he thinks that Clark is a hapless victim.

AReasonablePerson · 14/05/2024 11:38

Thanks @SinnerBoy I don't really do Twatter. Although I may lurk a bit 😄

Oh! Oh! Oh! I know this one miss! One has a cervix (allegedly) and the other has really poor taste in clothes unless you have taken a ride in the Tardis back to 1960.

But to be honest, if you stood them next to each other I would be hard pressed to tell which was which . Though if you stood them next to a woman I could pick her out without even thinking about it.
