Referee Changing Rooms

Does anyone know where football referees get changed?

"Lucy" Clark is the first trans manager in English Women's football, just wondered where he would change.

JK tweeted * When I was young all the football managers were straight, white, middle-
aged blokes, so it's fantastic to see how much things have changed.*

I make no apologies for the the Daily Mail link

Don’t lots of women’s football teams have male managers and coaches?

They absolutely do and I'm 100% confident none would want to change in the female changing rooms. Trans women on the other hand ...

Providing he doesn’t insert himself in the female changing rooms or toilets or put any pressure on other people to mis-sex him then he can go about his business quietly as a man who dresses as a woman.

WallaceinAnderland · 13/05/2024 15:14

Women as a class are more oppressed than men as a class.

Until a man puts on a wig or simply says he's a woman.

Then he is more oppressed than women as a class.

I would say you couldn't make it up but...

I guess people can make their own mind up.

Isn't a manager and a referee a different thing?

Look at the wording on the second photo - it explains why Lucy is referred to as both a referee and a manager.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 13/05/2024 15:20

Do managers get ‘changed’, in the sense of changing their clothes when they arrive at the ground? In my very limited knowledge, I thought they seem to wear suits or other non sports ‘outerwear’. The picture of Lucy is when officiating as a referee, which presumably would be at a game not involving the team Lucy manages.

Of course, during the interval or whatever they call it, I assume Lucy will be going into the team dressing room for the tactics and pep talk. Lucy won’t be standing outside the closed door talking loudly . And after the game, Lucy will be in there celebrating or commiserating…..I’ve just discovered that when a manager is unpopular with the team, it’s known as ‘losing the dressing room’.

from a previous age:

  • Phil Neville keeps half-time team talks to just two minutes as he aims to give England stars privacy in the dressing room during Women's World CupThere are no rules limiting time that a male coach can spend in dressing room
  • Phil Neville decided it is inappropriate for him to be among players at that time
  • He has also been handling debriefs with on-pitch huddles rather than in room
But of course it’s different with a female manager, isn’t it?

Hopefully the basic science of the intervening 5 years has shown him that he was talking through his backside.

just wondered where he would change.

Did you really, or did you just want a pretext for yet another thread on this subject, and for posting the photos?

I'm fully gc, but honest to god I don't think anyone gets anything useful from yet another thread for rehearsing anger and well-worn phrases. It wrongfoots the gc position, facilitating the sentences in that guardian article about mn the other day. In that article the author went halfway towards acknowleding women's reasonable concerns as expressed on mn, but then went on to add words to the effect of 'oh but the obsession, shading into bigotry'
If you have useful points to make, then make them. Don't just bob your pitchfork up and down.

It's not women with pitchforks, it's the trans identifying men wedging him selves into women's spaces. If you were truly GC you'd be a bit more worried about the effect that this has on women.

Snowypeaks · 13/05/2024 15:25

A bigger question is what are the FA rules about male managers being in the dressing room while the women's team are changing.

Male managers are not allowed in the players' dressing room in the women's leagues in England.

It's illegible to me, DialSquare - very fuzzy. Would you mind re-posting?

What a creep!

SirChenjins · 13/05/2024 17:14

That testosterone fuelled anger of Lucy’s is really showing itself there - let’s hope he can control himself better on the pitch.

GerbilStyle · 13/05/2024 17:38

Funny how those horrible tweets from that man pretending to be a woman aren't in the news

Blimey!

I’m surprised IW would want to stand shoulder to shoulder with ‘Lucy’.

Well isn't that pleasant! And India wonders why India hardly gets any work these days. Maybe India should try washing India's mouth out with soap.

FlakyPoet · 13/05/2024 19:43

Does IW still have a career? That vicious misogynist outburst seems really reckless.
