Proposed Pride march could be alternative for ‘fed up’ lesbians this summer

Women’s rights campaigners are planning to hold an alternative march for <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/FRlcd/www.telegraph.co.uk/lgbt/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">lesbians this summer because they no longer feel represented at London’s official <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/FRlcd/www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/02/24/objecting-pride-not-homophobic-tory-party/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Pride celebrations.

Jenny Watson, the organiser of the event, claimed the capital’s Pride parade has become dominated by the transgender movement and men indulging in sexual fetishes.

She claimed that those in charge of London Pride have made it clear that <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/FRlcd/www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/04/22/shadow-justice-secretary-agrees-jk-rowling-biological-sex/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">“gender-critical” women who disagree with the idea of men identifying as female being classed as lesbian are unwelcomed.

Ms Watson, a lesbian herself, also claimed women now feel uncomfortable at Pride marches due to the growing presence of men wearing “hypersexualised” outfits such as bondage gear.

And they will try to steal this too

Don't worry, Jenny Watson and the LGB Alliance will be on it.

I went on this march this morning and loved it - I’d highly recommend it to other lesbians next year! Thanks for organising, @dnalerinrehtron Flowers

Thats good to know.

I posted on another thread, forgetting this one, to ask if there had been any TRA activity.

Really brilliant that this was organised and hope everyone had a great time.

(can MNHQ find a nice biological women emoji?)

In the meantime to organisers and participants

I don’t think we saw a single TRA! Either they were off on their own march or still in bed.

I have absolutely no idea why my previous comment was deleted- it was just suggesting that, to give your daughter an age-appropriate sense of lesbian/bisexual community, you could maybe take her to a women's football or rugby match?

The only reason I can think of for it to have been deleted is that I used the phrase you used and crossed out in your comment!

The censorship here is getting beyond a joke!

As a straight woman with a young DD who is bi/lesbian (depending on the day of the discussion) I really struggle with taking her to Pride. She's asked to go three years in a row. We went the first year and had to have lots of conversations about pervy men aspects of the event. I refused one year and we were double booked last time.

A lesbian event, which I assume would be more family-friendly in every way, would be brilliant for her. Being part of a community, actual pride with a small P, is important for youngsters. But young women being used as props in someone else's sexuality is something that happens to teenagers in general and lesbians in particular every day, it shouldn't happen at Pride.

It really breaks my heart that the beautiful community spaces we used to have no longer exist. I’m an older lesbian who remembers the feeling of her first pride after a life time of hostility. I think this could be a wonderfully positive event for her. Have no doubt that lesbians, like any woman, do not believe in airing their fetishes and private sex life in public. A gender critical community event would be completely safe and appropriate for your daughter, and I think it is wonderful you are so supportive of her.

Just came across this and almost thought it should have its own thread (and if anyone wants to start one please do). Wasn't sure as written by and man, but appropriately here! But as it is about gay men it links to some of the issues raised by the OP.

Meet the mean boys of trans activism
How a loud bunch of gay men became the chief online enforcers of a homophobic ideology.

These men are conspicuously not very bright. They consider it likely that lesbians and gay men of the left who have spent decades fighting for gay rights all suddenly decided to become far-right haters of effeminate men and butch women one Wednesday afternoon in April 2015. They rant and rave about standing with their ‘trans siblings’, failing to notice that a very great proportion of that cohort are heterosexual men who merely enjoy cross-dressing and / or gatecrashing lesbian speed-dating events. They have somehow overlooked the well-evidenced fact, backed up by the Cass Review, that girls and boys who don’t conform to sex stereotypes are being led down the path of chemical castration and mutilation. All of this counts for nothing because it interferes with their Napoleonic levels of self-regard, and the opportunities that the noxious combination of social media and gender ideology gives to their appalling flaws.

Joining in with them are the ‘allies’, the uni-educated Poppys and Sheridans – heterosexuals of similarly rabid character who want a little taste of aggro. ‘Allies’ has really changed as a word. When one tunes in to a documentary about the Second World War nowadays and the voiceover says something like ‘By 1941 the Allies had taken Tobruk’, it’s hard not to picture a load of posh little twerps with 2:2s from the University of Winchester advancing tutting across the desert, sparkling with glitter and bedecked in rainbow lanyards.

The Twitter enforcers have been particularly awful when it comes to the hounding of the homespun LGB Alliance (funded entirely by public donations). They frequently describe this small assembly of lesbians and gay men as a ‘far-right hate group’ – despite the fact that many of them have been gay-rights campaigners for decades. Some were actually prominent in Stonewall before it became a trans-rights lobby group. The uh-oh men and their allies started tweeting this before the LGB Alliance even had a name. All it took was for barrister Allison Bailey to tweet that she’d met with some mates to discuss setting up an exclusively LGB campaign group, and genderist social media erupted with accusations of a new Kristallnacht. (A reminder here that Bailey is a black lesbian criminal-defence barrister with a lengthy history of advocating for racial equality and for representing the survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. An unlikely Nazi, you would think.)

https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/04/28/meet-the-mean-boys-of-trans-activism

Its quite a long article. I just picked out some paragraphs.

I remember the disgusting allegations against Allison Bailey for rightly pointing out that girls and young women are having their breasts removed before they have ever experienced sexual pleasure. They called her a paedophile. The cheek of it coming from people determined to keep children in an extended prepubertal state!

Hi there! This is Jenny from the article.

Our goal is simple: to create a day that focuses on celebration, not sexualisation. We want to provide a space where every woman/girl feels welcome.

Our plan for the day includes a march around Parliament Square, where we'll raise our voices! Afterwards, we'll continue with a picnic in the park.

We understand the importance of creating a family-friendly environment, free from the discomfort of hypersexualised displays or inappropriate behaviour.

If you're interested in joining our celebration, please sign up using the link below. Your support will help us plan accordingly and ensure that everyone has a fantastic experience.

Let's reclaim Pride together and make it a day to remember!

Thanks so much for your words,
Jenny

Thank you for making such a wonderful space for lesbian women and their families 💐

I second that💐Smile

After all the hype this turned out to be a damp squib with barely double figures turning up, no one's even mentioning yesterday's march on TwiX.

After all the hype this turned out to be a damp squib with barely double figures turning up, no one's even mentioning yesterday's march on TwiX.

Its not about numbers its about intention and purpose.

If what ever number of women turned up felt happier and safer than being a Pride then it served its purpose.

And by the way, as twitter is the least social media platform not really a matter of concern what is said on there.
