Article exposing the shady goings on of LGBT Youth Scotland charity in primary schools

I know the Telegraph have already covered this and highlighted issues with the charity, but Wings over Scotland has done another exposé on the goings on and has shown that not only are they visiting primary schools in Scotland (which is against their own charter as they declare that their support is for aged 13 up) but a very unhinged prior councillor was present at one of the primary schools.

Wings has written to the charity but I'm not sure if it's worth doing an FOI to find out what other primary schools they are visiting. Talking about sexuality and identities should not be going on in primary schools. My child is starting at a Scottish primary school this year so I'm very concerned.

Grooming Class

Daniel Sanderson of the Telegraph has filed a series of excellent but deeply disturbing articles this month about the growing presence in Scottish primary schools of LGBT Youth Scotland, a charity …

It doesn't seem to work when I use the archived link, sorry. If you type this into archive.ph it might work, apologies. It wasn't me that archived it so I'd just copied it from that site but it keeps breaking when I post it.

Our friend, the man who abused our child

There are evenings when a task as innocent as reading a bedtime story to Billy, her six-year-old son, can prove too much for Maggie Reilly*. “I remember trying Roald Dahl’s The Witches,” she says

Content warning, it's a very upsetting case. My bolding:

'After a year working directly with young people, Rennie moved into management and rose to become chief executive of LGBT Youth Scotland in 2003.
He studied physics at Heriot-Watt University, after which he trained as a teacher. It was during his studies that he became friends with the parents of "Child F" – who he would go on to abuse during babysitting sessions.
In a statement issued after the verdict, the charity expressed its shock and "betrayal" on learning of the abuse Rennie had carried out. It was within the offices of LGBT Youth Scotland that Rennie accessed the Hotmail account "kplover" that he used to view and distribute vile pornographic images of children.
"We are appalled by the abuse and exploitation of children by James Rennie, and wholeheartedly welcome his conviction," LGBT Youth Scotland said.

"Our immediate thoughts are with the children and families who have been directly, and indirectly, abused by him and the other co-accused also convicted.
"Lothian and Borders Police have been clear that their investigations concerned James Rennie personally and not LGBT Youth Scotland as an organisation."'

Rennie also sat on the board of YouthLink Scotland.

The fact these organisations made no investigation in the aftermath just beggars belief, really.

lifeinthelastlane · 25/08/2024 15:50

So when Rennie was convicted, it wasn't considered that he might have used his position as CEO to push an agenda that favoured his own desire to abuse? Or to employ people he knew would share his feelings/turn a blind eye?

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2024 15:56

It seems that when Rennie was convicted absolutely nothing was considered.

They've left themselves open to accusations of covering up and turning a wilful blind eye.

If the police didn't investigate LGBTYS then they didn't want to risk doing it themselves.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2024 15:56

I mean, at best that's a massive safeguarding failure. Middle ground, they were scared to look more closely. Worst case scenario, they were deliberately covering up.

INeedAPensieve · 25/08/2024 17:49

It's absolutely horrifying. I think I'm going to send this thread to anybody who asks why I am asking questions about LGBT youth Scotland being in my child's school. In fact, according to the latest FOI that For Women Scotland sent to the Scottish government, they are in over 80% of schools in Scotland.

So that's 2 convicted paedophiles who've been embedded in this children's charity? There's been no review of this in the charity? Politicians are silent and the Police are busy signing up to charters produced by this charity?

This is a second case in the last week involving paedophiles where a police force has been professionally compromised by involvement with an organisation harbouring them. In the Surrey case they even accompanied the predator into a school shortly before he was arrested for appalling child abuse allegations.

At some stage somebody is going to have to put some distance between the police and political activist groups masquerading as charities.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2024 21:59

It seems they are in the awful situation of being in so deep and so deeply embedded in public life, in schools, police, and other organisations, that everyone is scared to say anything. Even as the shocking revelations pile up.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2024 22:01

The older guide to 'coming out' that Easton was involved with has this to say about family:

'If anyone you come out to reacts negatively try and find a safe way
to remove yourself from the situation. If their response involved
verbal or physical abuse, you may want to report this to the police.'
...
'Telling family members can feel especially daunting because they
have known you as the gender you were assigned at birth for
longer than most- maybe your whole life. The news may come as a
complete shock and they may think that they are somehow to
blame. It’s important to help them understand that this is a part
of you that no-one can change, and that by transitioning (in
whatever form), you will become the person you really want to be.
– Remember that this might be the first time they have thought
of you this way.
– A lot of parents may think that they have done something
wrong and blame themselves.
– Some parents may feel like they have ‘lost’ a son or daughter
and will need time to accept your new gender.
– Remember that the first reactions you get from family
members may not be a true representation of how they’ll feel
in the long term.
– Many parents, with time, can become your biggest advocate,
actively supporting you through your transition.'

So, it seems they have in fact got far more extreme in the intervening years since Easton's involvement.

Scottish LGBTI Police Association lnks to LGBT Youth Scotland on their website.

They also have a lending library, based as far as I can tell in BIshopbriggs Police station, that includes 'Whipping girl' by Julia Serrano and books by Shon Faye, Juno Dawson, Susan Stryker.

March 2023 however they say there was no investigation.

'In December 2022, we became aware of an article containing historic allegations involving LGBT Youth Scotland. We immediately reported this to Police Scotland and they contacted the individual making the allegations. Following their enquiries, Police Scotland confirmed that there was no criminal activity to investigate relating to LGBT Youth Scotland or our staff and volunteers.
For clarity, and contrary to commentary online, there is not, and has not been, a police investigation in relation to recent allegations in the media into LGBT Youth Scotland or any members of our staff or volunteer team.
For good practice, and in line with our internal policies, we also conducted an internal investigation into the allegations and all safeguarding processes conducted at the time of the allegations. We found no evidence of a lack of safeguarding.'

Press Statement March 2023 - LGBT Youth Scotland

The current level of public interest in gender recognition reform has led to an ongoing negative narrative about our work, including a consistent misrepresentation of LGBT Youth Scotland online.   We would like to address this misinformation as follows...

I'm going to make a bit of a guess, and say, I don't think most people today, unless they have been following all this stuff very carefully like this board does, or are naturally very contrarian, are able to make the kind of leap to see this as evidence of a safeguarding issue.

Nor do I think they are capable of wondering if these guys were pushing an agenda.

It has been drilled into people, especially anyone under about 40, that there is no connection between sexual fetish, or what they consider different or queer sexualities, and stuff like paedophilia, that they will always read anything like this as a one-off. Something that could happen anywhere and does.

I've talked to young people who refuse to understand that as a group, statistically, gay men are more promiscuous than heterosexual people. They consider that to be a deeply bigoted lie, and it can't be true.

They are not going to wonder if these guys were trying to push certain policies in the organization that could be dangerous, for the same reasons. They have cut off the possibility of making a connection like that.

WTF? Why was that post deleted?

It was a link to a news article of two ex service users talking about alleged abuse.

'Edinburgh Division Signs Up to LGBT Charter'

Police Scotland are/were signed up to the LGBT Youth Scotland’s LGBT Charter.

I mean, just what? Are they completely fucking stupid? Or are they involved?
