If that was really involuntary redundancy then I'm utterly gobsmacked. She had one of the rarest and most valuable skillsets at the BBC combining programme making, broadcasting, and a good facility with science and mathematics.

Looking at the record of those the BBC like to promote and push to the forefront, and pay fortunes to, it actually feels like an insult aimed at the audience.

I mean look at this, Kate Lamble's tweet announcing her departure got well over a million views and over a thousand shocked and complimentary replies, including many people well-known in a wide variety of areas of expertise:

Thats shocking. They keep making unforced errors, I cant stand them anymore.

They need more like her, not fewer.
