Just when you thought she'd scurried away in shame.

Apparently there will be an article in the Mail on Sunday tomorrow.

"The former CEO of Mermaids, Susie Green, is trying to set up a helpline to provide advice to children and adults who want to buy 'sex change' hormones online. She says she won't pay staff and the helpline will not be a charity to avoid regulations and scrutiny"

Thanks Boiled. So her business model is private funding from wealthy donor's and avoiding as much regulation as possible

well what could possibly go wrong…..

If it "will not be providing medical advice" then why does it matter for Mermaids that they can't refer to private healthcare options?

She can barely write two sentences without contradicting herself.

TWETMIRF · 14/04/2024 09:55

Didn't she also do a ted talk where she laughed about her son's penis being too small due to the drugs she'd given him to be able to do the surgery easily? Such a wonderful, caring mother she is.

Esgaroth · 14/04/2024 09:58

She didn't 'allow' him to take dangerous drugs and have his genitals surgically removed - she actively and enthusiastically fought for it to happen.

She should be in jail and that is not even slightly hyperbolic. What she did is no different to parents who take their daughters out of the country for FGM. Just a different ideology.

That wasn't part of her TED talk - that was a clip with her and her mother laughing about her son's withered body parts. She should absolutely be in prison.

Absolutely this. In any other sphere she would have been investigated - mention trans and there is nothing to see here.

TWETMIRF · 14/04/2024 10:05

Thanks for clarifying Otter. Unlike Susie, accuracy and truth is important to us on FWR.

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/04/2024 10:12

I feel desperately sad for Jackie Green, whose purpose in life appears to be cheerleading SG and insisting that it was the right thing to do.

Name5 · 14/04/2024 10:12

Just out of interest has there ever been a interview with her child, who is now an adult?

I object to Ms Green continuing to say people are anti trans. I'd love to meet these people because even living in the Shires I have never met any. Protecting children is not the same.
If anyone hasn't listened to Dr Soh interview Chloe Cole please do. It's eye opening.

LoobiJee · 14/04/2024 10:16

Can I suggest keeping the discussion to Susie Green’s actions which are relevant to this new venture of hers, and which are in the public domain.

And stay away from discussion of her, now adult, child’s current personal life.

Previous threads which have changed focus in that way have been deleted.

It’s a clip from ‘Jackie Green, Transsexual Teen, Beauty Queen’.

First aired November 2012.

@SqueakyDinosaur

Poor Jackie doesn't really have much choice to do anything but be 100% supportive of Susie.

Someone has put a link to suzies Ted talk (now mysteriously vanished from the main site and you tube)

What is her liability standing here? When she's doing this as an employee of a charity the charity bears the liability of her actions even if she's the one making all the decisions. I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me she might be personally liable now. A child harmed by what she does could sue her personally?

I wonder whether that liability wouldn’t extend to every volunteer, too? If it’s not a charity, if they are effectively marketing medical and pharmaceutical services to vulnerable young people without the pre-resquisit medical training, if they are not doing it as employees but as private volunteers, then surely each of them would be personally liable? This is where we need Roddy KC or maybe Dennis Noel Kavanagh to state the law.

To understand Susie Green’s agenda it’s important to be aware that she took her 15 year old child (whom Susie Green believed to be gay) to Thailand in order to have genital surgery performed on her child on her child’s 16th birthday. Prior to that Susie Green had put her child on a drug regime - obtained from the US - from the age of 12 in order to suppress her child’s puberty.

Susie Green took over Mermaids and turned it from an organisation which adopted a “watchful waiting” approach to supporting families and children, into an organisation that did everything it could to mislead and terrify parents into believing that if they didn’t subject their children to what Susie Green’s child had been subjected to by her then their children would commit suicide.

It’s also important to know that Susie Green has no background in medicine, psychology, child development or research. Her previous career was something like IT support / office manager type role. There was a very significant breach of GDPR relating to confidential information about children in her time as head of Mermaids. Eventually she was sacked by Mermaids. Another of her children was employed in Mermaids’ finance department, apparently.

That’s the background to Susie Green’s agenda.

Edited

Bloody hell. I've got a GCSE in Child Psychology from 1993,so even I'm more qualified to deal with the mental state of minors than Suze.
It'd be funny if there weren't so many ruined lives and futures presided over by this woman.

FrancescaContini · 14/04/2024 13:14

This is the woman who got her son castrated in Thailand?

Villagetoraiseachild · 14/04/2024 13:18

I still find any reference to that trip to Thailand upsetting. It feels equivalent to fgm.

It does seem remarkably similar. Why is FGM seen as the terrible thing it is, but mutilating children in the name of "affirming their identity" is acceptable?

SoupDragonsFriend · 14/04/2024 16:45

I can't see why, given the existing legislation about fgm, the WPATH files and the findings of the Cass report, a law couldn't be put in place quickly to make it an offence for adults with care of children, or under-18s themselves, to access directly from abroad drugs such as puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, or any sex-related surgery for those young people. Surely now, since it's children being talked about, there would be cross-party support. Maybe the election is too close to hope for anything before then.

Because FGM is part of someone else’s culture, whereas identity affirming genital surgery is part of “our” (transgender) culture. One's own culture, that is the culture one feels comfortable in, is always justifiable.

Great article on Green from Hadley in 2022

https://unherd.com/2022/11/mermaids-useful-idiots/

as she says, Green never hid who she was and who she still is

Mermaids' useful idiots

Journalists, teachers and activists all defended Susie Green

anyone who feels comfortable with mutilating kids wants their fucking heads looking at.

OhPea · 14/04/2024 20:25

The slogan “Protect Trans Kids” makes me cry tears of frustration. Yes, we should protect the children expressing discomfort, distress or incongruence with their sex! They should be protected from people like Susie.

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/04/2024 20:44

The slogan needs to be "Protect Dysphoric Kids", really.
