Susan Evans is trying to get a Judical Review to set aside the registration by the CQC of Gender Plus Hormone Clinic

Susan Evans is gardening in the usual place.

From her introduction:

"The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has registered Gender Plus Hormone Clinic to provide hormone treatments to 16 and 17-year-old children.

This paves the way for other private clinics to be registered, which would offer controversial medical treatments with lifelong consequences to vulnerable teenagers. The decision of the CQC to license a private clinic, creates a significant risk of a two tier approach, with less protection for those who seek help from the private sector. This further risks undermining the work of the Cass review for NHSE practice.

I want the court to set aside the registration by the CQC of Gender Plus Hormone Clinic to provide hormone treatment for teenagers. I also hope that this litigation will prevent the registration of other private clinics providing this controversial treatment. I want to ensure that those under 18 years old, do not suffer irreversible, lifelong harms both physical and psychological, from taking a controversial hormonal treatment which is not evidenced as safe or effective."

A nice time of year for planting.

Update from the gardening page from 17th February - but the JR date is getting close now. As of today the fund is at £16,793:

Good News

We now have a date set for the Judicial Review. This JR will examine the CQC’s decision to register GenderPlus, and the hearing has been listed for 24/25 June 2025.

In the meantime we await evidence from the CQC and GenderPlus, which has to be with our legal team by 28th February.

Once we have seen their evidence we will be preparing for the hearing.
...

Many thanks
Susan and my co-claimant, Mum' X'

Anyone know how they got on with the evidence back on 28th Feb?

As a result of a reminder on another thread, I’ve done a little more gardening. Susan Evans is a star.

Thanks for reviving this thread. Somehow I'd managed to miss it this case and they deserve support. The garden signpost is protect teenagers from harmful and irreversible medical treatment.

Bad news - haven't read the ruling. Seems to be something to do with parental freedom of choice.

Susan Evans and her co-claimant, a parent, have lost their judicial review against the Care Quality Commission in registering the private hormone clinic GenderPlus.

This must be challenged. Our full comment in 🧵⬇️

It is madness that the court has allowed that children can be exposed to unsafe healthcare if their parents can afford to pay for it. The first consideration of a health regulator must be patient safety. What is the point of the CQC if they are prepared to ignore safety concerns and register a clinic despite evidence of risk to children? The CQC has acted against the NHS, against Cass and against what are currently the minimum safeguards for risky and irreversible hormones prescribed to children. The CQC has condoned ideological medicine in place of evidence-based healthcare and the court has agreed with them. This must be challenged if medicine is to remain a science and not become an ideological free-for-all, putting children and all patients at risk.

Well, I’m financially straitened at the moment. But I’d definitely find some money to try to overturn this.
