In our house, caused a massive and long overdue discussion at lunchtime thanks to the coverage on R4. And as a result my trans-adjacent teenager is has now assured me that she's not thinking of any surgery or hormones in the future, and has also, I think, started to understand that he/they pronouns may be a sign of internalised misogyny rather than being cool/queer/a bit different.

I will sleep a lot easier tonight.

I've been getting actual goose bumps when I read about her bravery and it's impact! The OP brought on some more. Well done and thank you JKR.

I want to add my admiration and thanks. What a fantastic role model she is.

I'm in Scotland, I hate to even imagine the situation we'd be in if it wasn't for JK. Same as, so many people just don't know what's going on here.

This is all brilliant to see, and thanks also for all the kind words.

Her stand has exponentially uped the ante. I have stood for "woman, adult human female" for the last 8 years, often to be met with baffled looks or I am making a fuss about nothing over women's rights. Since JKR's stand, many of the people I have spoken/debated/argued with have come round to my view. One thing when Jane Bloggs says something - another entirely when a famous well-thought of celebrity says it. Massive massive thanks and kudos JKR.

When my dds came to an age where they would be educated into all sorts of problems with the enthusiastic help of every institution you depend on as a parent, I was ready due to JKR and Mumsnet.

I was able to push back, and argue against all aspects of this cult. I had the tools to defend JKR herself, which was particulary important to me in view of what she is doing for us.

It was phenomenal to be able to point them in the direction of clear, fair, counter argument, which is surprisingly hard to find (looking at you NYT, Guardian, BBC, etc.). I found most of the source material here from the hard work of women participating on these threads. And due to heavy moderation by Mumsnet, I was able to discuss the issue, aware of the various mines in the field, and able to walk them into quite a few! :)

It was hairy for a while, especially with one of my dds, but we survived.

It seems like over kill I know, but I tear up a little when I read about JKR and her incredible courage.

I cannot thank her enough.
