Scottish Conversion Ban Consultation closes tomorrow - GMN/FWS templates available

Morning Mumsnet,

Hope you'll forgive a gay man interloping on your site, but I wanted to draw some attention to the Scottish Conversion Practices Public Consultation, it closes tomorrow and the proposed legislation has grave implications particularly for (mostly same sex attracted and/or autistic spectrum) girls at gender clinics who now make up the majority of patients. This proposed legislation specifically protects ideological medicine (at draft section 118, see para 26 of the the GMN response), but it exposes Cass compliant exploratory therapy to the risk of prosecution, worse still it poses substantial and clear risks to day to day parenting with a wide definition of "coercion" and "suppress".

Please feel free to use any of the GMN or FWS material as assists, the GMN response is fairly substantial, the FWS guide is designed as a more streamlined quick reference guide.

I think the evaluation section is an important one to fill in too. Here's what I wrote:

"I believe the wording of this consultation shows a bias towards gender ideology and does not present a balanced view. The conflating of homosexual conversion therapy and gender "conversion therapy" (i.e. where it may be explored whether a person "is" the opposite gender - something that actually heavily relies on harmful sexual stereotypes AND as far as I'm concerned is a form of homosexual conversion therapy in itself) is incredibly offensive and waters down the negative impact that homosexual conversion therapy has on individuals."

It was quite a time consuming consultation! I didn't complete a couple of the questions as it was a race against time before DD got home! But submitted and made my views pretty damn clear

What an utter shitshow.

I'm done, it was very biased and I told them.

I got a 506 page not found as I submitted but I got an email to say they'd received it

Closes at midnight. If anyone still wants to fill it out quickly it is just fine to tick the boxes for 'Do not support' or 'Do not agree' to the relevant questions. Questions 1–10, 17 and 20 are the most important ones.

Tick the boxes, fill in your details and submit. You don't have to be in Scotland and it all matters for counting up the opposition.

Site just kept crashing - admittedly I left it till the last minute but I’d read through the guidance and prepared my answers but didn’t get a chance to fill it out till 11.45 and it just didn’t work - I did the first answer and then it took 5 minutes to move on to the next question - I answered that and it stuck for another 5 minutes and then it just said ‘503 Service not available’.
