Scottish Conversion Ban Consultation closes tomorrow - GMN/FWS templates available

Morning Mumsnet,

Hope you'll forgive a gay man interloping on your site, but I wanted to draw some attention to the Scottish Conversion Practices Public Consultation, it closes tomorrow and the proposed legislation has grave implications particularly for (mostly same sex attracted and/or autistic spectrum) girls at gender clinics who now make up the majority of patients. This proposed legislation specifically protects ideological medicine (at draft section 118, see para 26 of the the GMN response), but it exposes Cass compliant exploratory therapy to the risk of prosecution, worse still it poses substantial and clear risks to day to day parenting with a wide definition of "coercion" and "suppress".

Please feel free to use any of the GMN or FWS material as assists, the GMN response is fairly substantial, the FWS guide is designed as a more streamlined quick reference guide.

Nothing in the consultation suggests it's limited to Scottish residents so my view is go for it :)

Very welcome here @DennisNoelKavanaghOffTwitter and thankyou for the reminder. Us mums of boys and young men need a safe way forward for our children too. The conversion therapy bill stands in the way by making it too dangerous for therapists to ask challenging questions or do anything but affirm.

And thanks for the podcasts too.

That is the time it took me. I responded simply and intuitively and didn't agonise over getting the best response.

A reminder that today is the last day to do this. It's worth doing even if you just tick the "yes" "no" boxes and don't write an explanation of your reasons.

I've just completed this with the help of the FWS guidance - think the site must have heavy traffic (last day) as it was incredibly slow for me.

The site's really slow for me too!

I'm not using guidance as I always worry about answers coming across as too generic (I analyse public consultations as part of my job and 'stock responses', even if they're slightly tweaked, are often counted as a 'campaign' and therefore have less weight).
