The Countess Conference: Exploring the impact of gender ideology on Irish society across legislation, policy, education, culture, and sport.

The first National event to bring together ordinary women and men from across Ireland for discussion, debate, and insights from activists, thought leaders, and experts across key subject areas.

Join the fight for reality, for freedom of speech, for evidence-based healthcare, for the future of our society.

The Basics: What is gender ideology? Where did it come from? How has it infiltrated our government and influenced our laws?

The Hate Crime Legislation and Freedom of Speech: How will the Hate Crime Bill affect our ability to speak freely about gender ideology and other issues?

Youth transition and detransition: Who is “the trans child”? How can parents support their child? What happens when someone decides to desist or detransition?

Children, Education, and Safeguarding: How does gender ideology impact what our children are being taught? What harms might this bring? How can we as parents assert our rights? Why are single-sex spaces important and how can we fight to retain them in schools and clubs?

Sport: Why is it important to protect female categories in sport? Why are boys and men allowed to join teams and take places of girls and women?

LGFA policy allows boys over the age of twelve to join girls’ teams – how can we fight back?

Prisons and Self-ID: Men are being placed in female prisons in this country if they simply fill out a form that says they are a woman. There are no safeguards. What impact does this have on women prisoners and prison officers?

Legislation: The words woman and mother are being excised from legislation and policy. How significant is the recent referendum result?

Lesbian Erasure: What is happening in lesbian spaces? How can LGB young people be protected and supported when all the organisations are promoting gender ideology?

Women’s Spaces and Words: How important is it for women to speak up against the takeover of our spaces and our words? How can ordinary women organise and empower each other to raise awareness?

To fight this insidious ideology we first need to understand it and we need to join the dots!

Last time I posted info about an event for some strange reason everyone assumed I must be part of the organising!!! Realy wierd Confused

I shared that and this one because it looks really interesting, and really important even for those who cant attend to know that somewhere some women are working and creating events that allow women to come together to meet, discuss and plan. Flowers

Have to say I think the agenda really gets to the core of the issue.

But wonder who many ordinary women and men from across Ireland will think yes this is important I should attend.

But brilliant that someone has made the effort to try and help inform a wider group of the issue.

I wonder if it will be live streamed.

I fervently hope it’ll be live-streamed because I can’t get down to Dublin to attend. Perhaps it’ll be possible to buy an online attendance pass 🤔

I’m very glad to see The Countess taking bigger and bigger public actions, it’s nice to see them grow in confidence and strategy (and strength).

That’s a great mix of speakers. Some people there I enjoy reading or listening to.

Oh my goodness ... I am not going to type the name given what happens to threads when it is posted, but look who is Keynote Speaker!

I shan't spell it out either. Last week we were told that the person in question should stop doing their thing in public spaces so that delicate souls would not be offended. I wonder what person X will do so wrong that twitter is afroth with manufactured outrage now that they are doing conferences?

Cailin66 · 31/03/2024 09:38

Great line up there.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 31/03/2024 20:33

I’d pay to see that live streamed

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 01/04/2024 10:38

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely try and attend. What a great line up!

StephanieSuperpowers · 01/04/2024 10:43

I think a lack of attendance should not be construed as a lack of interest or agreement.

Villagetoraiseachild · 01/04/2024 10:50

Oh that looks amazing!

quizzys · 01/04/2024 11:03

Paddy O'Gorman will be an interesting speaker on the Prisons. He covered Limerick prison and the issue there re TW in the female wing (remember BK?) on his "Paddy's Podcast". He also has a "Transgender Special" episode on the same podcast.
Paddy's Podcast – Real chats with real people (paddyspodcast.ie)

I do hope this conference will be available online, I'd pay a fee for that.

Having just chided someone on another thread for taking tweets seriously when they are more likely to be shit stirrers was anxious about tweets saying speakers have withdrawn from this conference.

The allegation is that the inclusion (which I cant see) of Jana Lunden has meant other speakers have withdrawn.

Please note! I am not saying this is true, but this is being circulated on twitter as "a fact".

Whatever the situation is re. speakers I hope the event goes well as it looks like a really positive attempt to get information and facts about women's sex based rights out to a wider audience.

Hope all goes well.

Jana Lunden is the Irish version of kjk

Jana Lunden is the Irish version of kjk

Well assuming its true she's included then the shit stirrer is not very credible to suggest that someone who is similar to an existing speaker is scaring others away.

On one level feel a bit silly for posting, but on another gratified that my normal position of dont take twitter seriously turns out to be right.

Anyway, more importantly hope the day goes well.

I am sure it will be a huge sucess.

Just want to bump this thread for people who attended - I was only there for the first while unfortunately, I had to leave after 3 o'clock to attend a family event, but I was super impressed the some of the speakers.

John McGuirk was brilliant, as was a professor from UCD called Dr Gerard Casey talking about where gender ideology came from, the mother of a trans child who talked about her autistic daughter was very powerful, I also thought the lawyer (I think it was Grace O'Sullivan) talking about issues with the Hate Speech legislation was brilliant. Lots of great input from different sides.

Sadly I had to leave early so missed the lovely Posey, but I was so heartened that there were 200 - 300 people in attendance, quite a few men. I would definitely go again, it was really great to hear sense spoken! There was a small crowd of protesters outside but I just walked past them and smiled :-) There was police around so it was fine really.

If I had a criticism it would be they had issues with the sound quite a bit, it was either too loud or too quiet. Also, it would have been difficult to stay for the whole 4 or 5 hours without a proper break for something to eat/ a coffee etc. I think there should have been a scheduled break after about 2 hours to give people a chance to stretch their legs.

Gagagardener · 27/04/2024 19:14

Bumping because I'd like to know more. Sounds good, though@

Good to read this report back. And to know not to much aggro getting in and out.

Congratulations to organisers, speaker and attendees.

Sad about the sound.

So irritating and disappointing when that happens.

Every single event (of all kinds, not just women's rights ones) that I've been to recently has had problems with sound. You'd think in this day and age it would be sorted, but apparently not.

If I was suspicious, I’d suspect malicious compliance by venue staff like with what happened with Joanna Cherry’s event in Scotland last year - the event only went ahead cos of legal action and the venue staff made a concerted effort to do a bad job of hosting it.

I’m very glad to hear the event went well and I can’t wait to see footage on YouTube 👍

Joolsin · 27/04/2024 23:46

I enjoyed the event very much. Had no bother getting in, although two gates were blocked by the TRAs, I asked a Garda and he pointed out the next gate down.

Gerard Casey was excellent, as were Caroline the mother of the teenage desister, Laoise de Brun, KJ and Paddy O'Gorman. I was somewhat bemused by the lady who included an anti-vaccine and lockdown rant, very very off-topic, I thought. Very disappointed that Richie Herron couldn't make it. Was Luke the trans man supposed to be a substitute?

Anyway, great to have a good turnout in a proper venue and I hope there will be more like it.

Genderwoo · 28/04/2024 16:48

Enjoyed it very much and am so happy for The Countess' success in the referendum.

I found Gerard Casey quite good for a surface overview. Disappointed to see him putting feminists higher up on the responsibility list for Gender Ideology. PIE v.2 lobbying recognised, but AGP and other fetishes, still somehow elusive to analysis as the driver for adult male transition.

Same for Niall Boylan (MEP candidiate). A bit like blaming foot soldiers (which libfems are) - completely forgetting who benefits. It's not women. An MRA trope I see on twitter all the time.

The segment with Luke was as dissatisfactory. Easy to understand why, now I see they were a late addition. They were a confusing contributor - I felt they seemed affected by internalised misogyny and MRA rhetoric. It seemed unkind to examine that in the time available.

The FOI release of legal opinion minutes re; the '24 referendum, showed the government lied, on at least two points while promoting a 'YesYes' vote.
Coming hot off that, and coupled with the authoritian bent of the proposed Hate bill, it's understandable to be sceptical about the Irish people's tolerance of, and high compliance with, lockdown measures applied by the government (note: I'm not saying vaccine-uptake) To paraphrase Laoise deB, she said Ireland wanted to be the 'best little boy' for the EU.

Caroline, the mother of a desister, was very good. Would be nice to see a links/biblio of her references e.g. Jammy Dodger, Exulansic, cult deprogramming steps pulled out somewhere, for the uninitiated.

Pretty sure some will be uploaded, with all the camera set-ups.

Iloveshihtzus · 28/04/2024 17:01

I went and enjoyed it , particularly meeting other like minded women. I didn’t learn anything new, as I spend a lot of time on the Sex and Gender board here, but I was concerned at the books they are using in primary schools without our knowledge and the fact that we now never get to see those books because of the wonderful ‘free primary school books’ initiative. Boy do they know how to give with one hand and take with the other. I suppose there is no such thing as a free book!

It did seem as if some people were late additions as there was little coherence in some of them talks, but overall I enjoyed the day.

I agree, I thought this bit was sort of weird - it's was not a very well thought out conversation. Luke sort of veered off a lot - talking about living in the woods etc. and it seemed a bit incoherent. I admit that was the bit where I got a bit bored and struggled to pay attention.

I missed him, as he was later on in the afternoon, but this argument bugs the hell out of me. Also another one I've read in comments a bit recently - that women barged our way into men's spaces years ago, so we're just getting our comeuppance 😡

Abhannmor · 29/04/2024 09:36

Gearóid O Loingsigh said he was withdrawing over the inclusion of Lumsden. Did she appear in the end? Perhaps she was the anti vaccine ranter mentioned by a poster.
