That talking over people seems to be very common among these gobshites and their supporters these days eyeballs, as well as other agitating A-holes who just want their opinions heard and won't let anyone else speak, let alone listen to them

They do it all the time - literally bawling slogans over others people's attempts to give another point of view - there's no debate, no proper argument - just playground shouting tactics. And we all know why.

Froodwithatowel · 24/03/2024 14:02

I am at the point of seriously considering too, for the first time in my adult life, just not voting.

What is the point, where it's the same mess and vile lunacy, just coming in a few different colours?

1dayatatime · 24/03/2024 14:02

@lonelywater

"Where do these people get off on saying "most of the public agree with xyz?" "

I think they are being sincere in this statement except for them "most of the public " actually means the fellow political activists and career politicians that they live in a bubble with. Because they don't actually have any interaction with the public they have no idea what most of the public do or do not agree on

AlecTrevelyan006 · 24/03/2024 14:15

I disagree with Rayner’s comment, but I also think that Labour is moving its (public) position on this issue. They have seen that there is growing disquiet about the impact of trans rights on women and girls and are now trying to come up with a 'common sense compromise.' I think theyll fail, but there you go.

Cabbagepatchkid2 · 24/03/2024 14:23

Is she really thick as pig shit or is she just lying for “likes”?

Scary that she could be in a position of power soon. I can’t wait til nearer the election when all these soundbites will come out to haunt them.

OvaHere · 24/03/2024 14:26

This is a statement a lot of the public might have agreed with 5 years ago when people would have assumed she was talking about a tiny number of (ostensibly gay) men who were effeminate and had full surgery.

Since then most people unless they've been living under a rock are aware of men like 'Isla' Bryson or 'Lia' Thomas. The public know now that men exist who demand access to women's spaces whose only 'transition' might be to use a different name or pronouns. They've heard about the man in Planet Fitness who was shaving his beard in the women's change rooms or they've heard about the man at Wi Spa who was exposing his erection to women and girls.

This argument will no longer wash with the public Angela.

lady69 · 24/03/2024 14:34

I won’t be voting for her party because of this issue. I’ll stick to a local independent candidate at this rate. I would be a bIt of a hypocrite coming here bemoaning the state of women’s rights and yet STILL think labour are a good idea despite the evidence that they will take women’s rights back by decades .

i will struggle to have any sympathy for anyone who posts on this board who votes for them. I mean, the cognitive dissonance alone must be difficult even now, let alone later on when they start implementing policy that negatively impacts women and girls. The excuses and the whataboutism and the mental gymnastics.

Don’t say you weren't warned. Don’t come a crying. It’s what you want if you vote for them. Buckle up!

Tinysoxxx · 24/03/2024 14:38

The problem with this is then you have to follow it through and try and bodge things like public toilets. It’s like ‘ok how can we say men can be women but still make the toilets safe for women? Now anyone can go in because you can’t question it. I know let’s make the toilets fully enclosed so men won’t peep under them and they are more private’. The result obviously is that it becomes much less safe for everyone as they are now private places where sexual assaults, drug use and importantly medical emergencies can happen with less visibility. I helped save a young woman’s life who collapsed because we saw her blue arm through the door gap.

The public toilet consultation last year said these mixed sex private toilets were preferred as a design by government. Clueless.

Most of the public think you're insane, dear.

Do they? You know Mumsnet isn't necessarily a representative sample of people opinion right?

I think she's great.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/03/2024 14:41

Do you agree with her that men are also women?

Hoxite274764 · 24/03/2024 14:43

Oh god not her.

Don't know about bigger boat, but Angela will definitely need a bigger bowl.

For that word salad she's serving up.

Daichead · 24/03/2024 14:51

If there was a referendum tomorrow on ‘are transwomen women?’ I would bet my life the resounding answer would be NO.

You don’t speak for me, Angela.

mumda · 24/03/2024 14:58

Labour put their left leg in
Left leg out
In out in our and shake it all about.

Stupid dangerous idiot.

Helleofabore · 24/03/2024 15:01

Can we now stop having the idiotic posts scolding us for saying that the supposed ‘labour listened and look Starmer says’ kind of crap that we got from some posters in the last couple of months, please ? We pointed out that it was all weasel words and were basically told to shut the fuck up.

Apolloneuro · 24/03/2024 15:03

I appreciate I could do my own research, but is there a political party that does support the rights of biological woman? Labour will lose my vote over this issue.

Yep! Labours line remains that some special men are women and entitled to everything adult human females have. These men will also be counted as women in official statistics.

ZeldaFighter · 24/03/2024 15:22

I'm not impressed with that comment but I'm impressed with everything else. She nursed her own mother, was pregnant as a teenager, worked as a home help, getting qualifications as she did so and then became an MP. I'd vote for her over any other mealy-mouthed Tory and hope she will look into this issue more deeply, possibly changing her mind.

There's no way this far down the line with so many media exposes, scandals and court cases behind us she isn't already aware of all the problems and arguments related to this issue.

YourWinter · 24/03/2024 15:29

God she’s awful. Thick as a brick.

Agreed. She doesn’t come across in any of the interviews I’ve read as someone who’s much up for changing her mind. She’s reading/hearing all of it through the prism of “they are all evil Tory bigots so I don’t need to engage” in fact I doubt she’s even read anything on it on the basis that she already decided several years ago that she & Labour are on the right side of history so anything else on the subject can be dismissed out of hand

Froodwithatowel · 24/03/2024 15:33

And that the major issues this causes to some of the most vulnerable groups of women, the exclusion, the actual bloody rapes in some cases, must be denied and ignored in order to stroke the fevered brows of these special men. And that just not admitting this or pretending it doesn't exist somehow vanishes the problems.

They are basically in full favour of male supremacism, in alternative reality in the manner of a disturbed and unhappy teenager, and in marginalising and removing access from disabled, ethnically diverse, multicultural and abused and traumatised women. Oh and fucking over the safeguarding of children. While identifying as being politically 'left'. And ever so nice. And if you have a problem with this, it's because you're a stupid bigot.

Yes, you can have Reform or the SDP. Enjoy 😉

AdamRyan · 24/03/2024 15:52

Oh, or maybe "Party for Women" but they appear to be struggling to get any messaging in place about what their policies are other than debating Keir Starmer.

As opposed to Labour’s messaging on women - adult female plus Rayner‘s nonsense

They're all over the place
