Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Should there be a public enquiry into how gender identity ideology took over public life?

I think there should.

If you agree, there's a petition called 'Hold a statutory public inquiry into Gender Identity Ideology and Queer Theory'

Also a thread in Petitions and Activism section

I think it’s needed but I don’t think it will happen. It would expose all the back office lobbying and back-scratching that greases the wheels of our current political system. I am not sure our political system would survive that kind of radical transparency, though it would help restore public confidence and get us back to a functioning democracy.

ArabellaScott · 14/03/2024 09:47

Yes, absolutely. I'm not sure we've reached the tipping point yet. More dominoes need to fall. We may be on the way, though, given WPATH and NHS, Cass, etc.

Runningwildish · 14/03/2024 09:47

Absolutely

Beowulfa · 14/03/2024 09:48

Yes, but the adults need to be fully back in charge first.

Froodwithatowel · 14/03/2024 09:50

It will inevitably come, but I agree it's not there yet. A very key part will be a basic investigation into why safeguarding principles and things such as the Nolan Principles were simply brushed aside by government, civil service and all parties and this political capture was so easy and thorough?

To the point of training taxpayer public service establishments like the police, NHS, schools, in misrepresented law for political gain unchallenged , and steering and forcing policy against democratic means.

Runningwildish · 14/03/2024 09:52

I've signed

I think it would be premature at this point.

Depressingly.

Signalbox · 14/03/2024 10:39

That would be great but I don’t think the extent of the problem has been recognised yet by anywhere near enough people. The political will isn’t there.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/03/2024 10:45

Yes there should. But it won't happen. Almost every political party, media source, government and non govt institution has pushed this for years. Literally fawning over every trans lobby group, no matter how emotionally unhinged they are and offering them children in and out of school to gaslight.

Far too much culpability. I reckon it will happen in 10 years time when the children have matured and finally understood the terrible reality of their sterilised, damaged bodies and minds.

Their rage will be uncontainable and then the pointless apologies will be made.

Floisme · 14/03/2024 10:52

I don't think there's a chance in hell of it happening before the key people who have pushed the ideology in our public institutions are safely retired.

And when / if it does ever happen they will take at least 10 years and release the report on the same day as a royal wedding or something similar.

8579 Signatures. Anything to keep pressure on. So worth signing.

Heylo · 14/03/2024 11:35

Hi OP this is a brilliant question. Would you mind posting the petition?

thanks x

Appalonia · 14/03/2024 11:47

One thing that came out of Free Speech Nation on Sunday was the fact that WPATH persuaded the NHS to use their computer system, at HUGE cost, which records gender identity. This explains why men are being asked if they're pregnant and mother's asked about their baby's gender identity. How this happened needs investigating ( and removed ). So yes, I totally agree there needs to be a public inquiry.

Runningwildish · 14/03/2024 12:11

Absolutely necessary, I've signed

EasternStandard · 14/03/2024 12:11

Thanks yes I’ve signed

RedToothBrush · 14/03/2024 12:12

Sadly I think this petition is about 15 - 20 years ahead of its time.

VivianRogers · 14/03/2024 12:23

Thanks for the heads-up. Have signed.

bellinisurge · 14/03/2024 12:25

Yes

flyingbuttress43 · 14/03/2024 12:41

Sadly I think we are going to have to wait before something happens nobody can ignore - perhaps a death on the sporting field, groups mass suing the NHS etc. I'm astonished how many women seem either ignorant of what is going on or keeping their heads down. Sometimes we women are our own worst enemies.

On that note, here is a link to the D.Telegraph today - Suella Braverman calling for reform to the gender equality act. Please don't dismiss it because of not liking Braverman.

The problem is it needs more than reform. It needs tearing up and starting again really.

Fix the Equality Act to restore sanity to the trans debate

J K Rowling has heroically stood up for women. The Government must find the courage to reform the law

Thanks for the info about the petition - I've signed. There are 8,680 signatures at the moment, so just 1,320 more needed for it to be debated in parliament!
