Mermaids tribunal coming up

I saw this on Twitter earlier - haven't seen it anywhere else:

It seems that a Mr C Green is taking Mermaids to employment tribunal on 20 March.

The only details I have are the ones on that thread. It seems that C Green may be the son of former CEO Susie Green.

I hadn't realised Mermaids was a family business under Green.

I'm actually getting quite tired of popcorn. I might lay in some Tunnocks?

No, on second thoughts, I tried that...sticky.

Datun · 08/03/2024 10:42

I wonder if her anger at being dropped by them is behind it all.

If her son has any inside knowledge of mermaids, maybe they've all got together and thought right, let's get 'em.

The Greens and mermaids trashing each other is something to which I'm gonna need a ringside seat.

Coffeelovr · 08/03/2024 10:55

Son or natal daughter?

Poinsettiasarevile · 08/03/2024 11:06

Ooooh, i wonder will tribunal tweets cover this?

StephanieSuperpowers · 08/03/2024 11:10

I'm sure it'll all be fine and probably even good and will only prove that we're absolute rotters who want to kill children for no reason.

Rightsraptor · 08/03/2024 11:19

I don't think there were any natal daughters born to the Green family. Iirc they had four boys.

I've been pondering the snacks too, @IcakethereforeIam, and I have decided to forget the popcorn, sod the Tunnocks - this case deserves a box of the most expensive chocolates produced by an all-female co-operative.

Now, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Rightsraptor · 08/03/2024 11:22

Baranda Cocoa seems to be the answer.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 08/03/2024 11:36

What I Susie doing now? She left gender GP very quickly, is she signing on or has she got another job?

StephanieSuperpowers · 08/03/2024 11:38

Last I heard, she was working with those bastions of medical ethics, Gender GP - or that's the best of my recollection.

IcakethereforeIam · 08/03/2024 11:44

I think she left Gender GP, not long after being taken on.

What I Susie doing now? She left gender GP very quickly, is she signing on or has she got another job?

She was overheard at the WPATH conference in Ireland last year plotting to take over Gender GP and looking at ways of mainlining referrals straight from the Irish medical professionals.

And then she was gone.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 08/03/2024 11:55

So maybe her stream of income is from suing people via her son, then?
wouldn’t put it past her

'I loved my time at GenderGP, working with the amazing team, supporting trans people to be able to access, timely, appropriate, affordable and affirmative care. However my heart lies in the charitable sector. I will be working on other projects and continuing to fight for trans people’s rights and autonomy.
This statement still stands. As an advocate for transgender people, I have long been frustrated by the barriers trans people face, including the discrimination and prejudice that extends to their ability to access healthcare. I experienced this with my daughter and see the distress caused by the failures of the NHS to treat trans people with respect and provide timely affirmative and appropriate care.
The blatant discrimination coming from our own government, attacking trans kids particularly, is incredibly worrying, with ‘guidance’ that is deeply flawed, a new Section 28 style approach that creates a hostile environment that actively threatens kids safety.
My history of standing with the community speaks for itself. Despite constant attacks aimed at destroying my credibility and that of trans people in general.
For over 22 years I was involved with the trans youth support charity Mermaids. For just under 7 of those years I was the CEO, and am incredibly proud of the charity and what it has achieved.
Mermaids is a national charity supporting trans and gender diverse children and young people, and their families and associated professionals. As CEO, my role was to expand our services to deal with an unprecedented growth in demand. Children and their families need support, and Mermaids needed to be there for them. I took the charity from a small, volunteer only organisation to a 2 million pound income charity supporting thousands of children, young people and their families every year.
The trans community are facing unprecedented challenges, and I am comitted to continuing to stand for what is rght. Trans rights are human rights.'

Currently unemployed, as far as I can tell.

Needmoresleep · 08/03/2024 21:35

It appears that Susie’s son Connor worked part time for Mermaids in their finance department.

BreadInCaptivity · 08/03/2024 21:46

Well that's going to be interesting....

Does anyone know if it's possible to find out what the tribunal is being asked to rule on?

PurpleSparkledPixie · 08/03/2024 21:53

I didn't realise she had left GenderGP, that was a quiet one.

Happy Snack GIF by San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance

I wish to complain about the lack of GIFs of binturongs eating popcorn. Bamboo is not going to cut it for this situation.

SidewaysOtter · 08/03/2024 22:58

You know how cinemas buy popcorn in in those enormous plastic sacks? We’re going to need some of those.

<drags deckchair from cupboard and settles in>

BlackeyedSusan · 09/03/2024 00:25

Or one small bag of kernals, and a pan....

CavalierApproach · 09/03/2024 00:28

I don’t like popcorn, it gets stuck in my throat

I’m going for little bowls of nuts and olives

Please, do go on, we're fascinated (tbf I joined this thread hoping it would be about the Mermaids court case against LGB Alliance but I have been prompted to seek out panda 🐼 and bamboo gifs so adding to my skills)

Igmum · 09/03/2024 19:51

Why doesn't it appear on the thread? Skills clearly need focus...

Leafstamp · 09/03/2024 19:56

Place marking. 20th March looks like the date for the case? Hopefully Tribunal Tweets or someone will live tweet it.

How about the charitable sector where you volunteer for no wages, such is your commitment to the cause
