This is disappointing but unsurprising. Sentencing is weak here (rapists on home detention because prison will be too hard for them), and name suppression is given out easily. Far too much consideration seems to be given to the effect on the perpetrator rather than the victim.

I now live in NZ and the situation is shocking.
Wellington , where the incident happened, is like the woke Capital of the world but not on a good way.
A bit different around the rest of the country but NZ culture is quite misogynistic .

Actions have consequences - or at least they should. Nobody forced this tall, strapping man to repeatedly bash a defenceless grandmother. He did that all by himself. On camera. And yet the law is bending over backwards to pander to him.

Here’s a thought. If you don’t want to ruin your future job prospects, maybe don’t go round punching elderly women in the face.

It’s not going to damage his job prospects because NZ Courts has bent over backwards to protect little Goat Gruff from suffering any consequences for his actions, which I have no doubt he knew they would. It’s the epitome of woke bro male entitlement.

Well, his name is now out on Twitter and any prospective employers will no doubt search for his name.

If you punch elderly women then everyone should know your name and you should be barred from professions where respect for the law and safeguarding are paramount.
