Well this has to be the stupidest mantrum that I've seen, the GPs would be perfectly justified to kick him off there books after his threats

Trans-influencer threatens to cancel GP after being refused hormones

A British trans activist and BBC actor has shared her battle to get hormone medications she's been taking for a decade after her new GP refused to prescribe them after she moved to the countryside.

Why do they want female hormones? Does being a woman have something to do with being female? And why aren't there more details on exactly where in London they moved from and exactly where they have moved to, so we can get exact up-to- the- minute house valuations?!

Cosmosforbreakfast · 26/02/2024 19:48

'So if I can't get healthcare than no one in my vicinity can because I am taking you all down.'

So he wants to endanger the lives of ill people? Good fucking luck to him trying to cancel a GP, no one's going going to refuse an appointment, they're like gold dust.

'They know this as well because I said on the phone "I'm Charlie Craggs I have a Wikipedia page".'

He's almost as famous as JKR so.

Have to wonder if his GP is female.

Emotionalsupportviper · 26/02/2024 19:48

The doctor has every right to refuse to prescribe these drugs.

This is effectively experimental treatment (and uncontrolled experimental treatment at that!) - the GP's practice would be responsible if anything went wrong. I don't blame the GP for refusing to be drawn into this.

Also - I understand that recently there isn't even enough oestrogen to supply vital medication to women who need it - it would be irresponsible to give scarce supplies to males.

PieOMy · 26/02/2024 19:49

Trans women, who are biologically male, take the hormone to help their body better match their gender identity.

Ooh! Interesting wording from the DM there!!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/02/2024 19:52

The BMA & the UK regulations are very clear that GPs do not have to prescribe for conditions they're unfamiliar with:
The BMA is quoted as saying: "Clearly, a GP should be aware of their limitations as well as their skills and must ensure that they are not prescribing beyond their knowledge or their ability to ensure patient safety.
'GPs are not obliged to provide every possible medical service to their patients, only those for which they have been contracted for, and these contracting arrangements may vary between practices."

Isn't it funny how unhinged threats and intimidation are so often the tactics employed to "persuade" others to comply 🙄

Cosmosforbreakfast · 26/02/2024 19:54

Have Police interviewed him about threatening NHS workers?

  1. GPs are allowed to prescribe certain drugs if there is no shared agreement. It in itself is frustrating for the patients involved, but that is the nature of the postcode lottery.

  2. It happens to lots of people, it sucks, deal with it.

  3. This is not personal, it is not proof that the world is transphobic and out to get you.

  4. It sucks, as a woman, to get hold of many hormonal treatments. If you really want to be a woman, this is the shit you have to put up with.

TL:DR I'm sympathetic, but stop being a baby, and deal with it like an adult.

BettyFilous · 26/02/2024 20:10

It’s so vindictive. There are problems recruiting GPs in some areas. GPs provide an essential service to their patients. This kind of selfish stropping and destructive behaviour is not OK. It’s not unusual for women to have to find alternative doctors to sign off on terminations or another pharmacist to dispense the morning after pill, and that’s conscience-based not even about clinical competence FGS. Get a fucking grip.

Toseland · 26/02/2024 20:15

So Fucking Special.
What an unpleasant person.
The NHS should not be funding this.

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2024 20:27

If the headline was:
"Drug in supply crisis prescribed for experimental off label use whilst NHS can't meet demand for critical intended use"
How would everyone react?

Then add the abuse and harassment this GPs is getting and the blackmail that if they don't get what they want then everyone else in the area will lose their GP and won't be able to access to healthcare:
"Threats to GP and to remove healthcare from entire community"
Subheaded "When GP refuses to prescribe patient supply crisis hit drug for non-approved off label use".

Add in the word trans and change the headline to "Transwoman refused drugs by GP" and the world suddenly implodes into drama of poor most vulnerable in society nonsense

When in reality the 'most vulnerable in society' is trying to hold an entire community hostage - including the disabled, those with chronic health conditions, the elderly and the very young - whilst issuing threats and blackmail to force a GP to prescribe drugs to them for uses which aren't medically approved.

Imagine if a bloke who wanted to get high on methodone tried this shit? Cos thats pretty much the level we are at.

I can't remember the last time a six month old baby tried this blackmail and threats shit.

Personally if I was being threatened by a patient for not prescribing an off-label drug, I'd be refusing to have them back in my practice.

Maybe this is the scam, to get thrown out and then force another GP to take them on, because otherwise they can't just register with another GP because GPs won't take on patients out of area... But be abusive and get put on the Special Allocation Scheme and BOOM you can pick where you want to go...

More gaming the system.

Boiledbeetle · 26/02/2024 20:30

I can't see this individual getting very far. I was prescribed a drug by the hospital consultant and got the first month from the hospital pharmacy.

Luckily I couldn't take it due to side effects as my doctor on receiving the instructions from the consultant refused to do me a prescription and informed me that they never would prescribe it to me.

So this person is not being treated any differently due to their trans status, (despite them having a Wikipedia page🙄)

SaffronSpice · 26/02/2024 20:31

GPS are likely to come across drug abusers trying to access drugs not infrequently. When I say ‘drug abusers’ I don’t mean someone buying crack on the street, I also include people who might not even realise that description applies to them.

Plus there will be people who have read up about some so-called wonder drug and want that eg slimming drugs.

SaffronSpice · 26/02/2024 20:32

And they don’t seem to have much trouble saying ‘no’ to women who want HRT

Brefugee · 26/02/2024 20:34

if i were the GP I'd close the practice for a week and let everyone know that I'd been "taken down" by a drama queen and was having a week to recharge my mental health.

What an absolute disgrace.

Morningtimeride · 26/02/2024 20:38

He sounds deeply unpleasant.

Hoardasurass · 26/02/2024 20:40

My ds has to get his adhd meds from the hospital as our gp won't prescribe them for him (this is due to the hospital insisting that theydo the blooid pressure checks, etc but not sharing the results) its a pain but the gp explained why and we understand and just work around it.
This person needs to get over themselves and get the prescription from the team that are treating him like the rest of us do

Noshowlomo · 26/02/2024 20:42

The celeb and insta influencers all over this fellas page are sickening. He’s so violent !
Didn’t expect to see Mother Pucka declaring her love for him

Saschka · 26/02/2024 20:45

Imagine if a bloke who wanted to get high on methodone tried this shit? Cos thats pretty much the level we are at.

They do. And people seeking speed for fictitious “ADHD” (I know it’s a real diagnosis, I mean drug-seeking patients who don’t actually have it but want a prescription), diazepam, every painkiller imaginable. There was a poster on here not long ago claiming GPs “discriminated against working class people” because they wouldn’t give her ketamine.

Any urban GP practice will be well-used to this sort of behaviour from their more batshit patients, and will give it short shrift.

Nellieinthebarn · 26/02/2024 20:48

Hang on....isn't it enough to just feel like he's a woman and wear a frock, to be an actual woman?

Scarletttulips · 26/02/2024 20:54

So this is a want not a need?

Pay a private prescription.

How come trans are such a minor % of the population but demand 90% coverage?

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2024 21:01

Nellieinthebarn · 26/02/2024 20:48

Hang on....isn't it enough to just feel like he's a woman and wear a frock, to be an actual woman?

Anyone who says they are a women is a women. The end. Yep.

Welcome to being a woman, where healthcare doesn't listen or take you seriously and talks down to you and blocks your referal etc etc.

Sucks doesn't it?

popebishop · 26/02/2024 21:04

Anyone who says they are a women is a women.

Well clearly this person doesn't think that. Maybe the GP should cancel them.

HagoftheNorth · 26/02/2024 21:06

Well done that GP - perhaps they are well-informed enough to be able to see that this could easily become a medical negligence issue, and they wisely want no part of it
