Im assuming they have the FOI thingy in Scotland as well…

Froodwithatowel · 12/02/2024 08:17

They'll be borrowing the Welsh government's impact assessment eating dog again.

Didn't they do this with the consultation on women's spaces that came back with the wrong answer?

OldCrone · 12/02/2024 08:26

The results of the survey were requested under Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation. However, the SPS refused to disclose them, saying if they were made public, it could undermine the confidentiality of the women who took part.

I hope they've taken this to the next stage and gone to the Information Commissioner.

Confidentiality issues are normally dealt with using redaction of personal or identifying information.

It seems much more likely that it would undermine their batshit policy of putting men in women's prisons. Even after the Isla Bryson case.

We all know fine well that the reason they are hiding it is because it didn't give the answer they wanted. If it had I'm sure it would have been shouted to the rooftops.

Thanks for link.

Boiledbeetle · 12/02/2024 08:45

Given we know that if the women were in favour they would have had that as a headline in every newspaper in Scotland I can only assume from the reluctance to publish that the results did not furnish the Scottish Prison Service with the results they wanted.

Helleofabore · 12/02/2024 08:53

Does the report itemise women’s statements of their experience? Surely those can be anonymised somehow. Or are they so specific that it would identify the women? And I would expect that it is only the negative impact statements that are specific.

Which is a clear indication that there have been negative impacts in the first place.

I think this is definitely a fudge. They could indeed release version of it.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 12/02/2024 13:23

Scotland hiding something from it's citizens, how unexpected, what a surprise, what a shock etc etc etc.

Artesia · 12/02/2024 13:28

Nice to see they are protecting their privacy. Just a shame it's at the expense of their dignity, privacy and safety in prison. .... Hmm

Rainbowshit · 18/02/2024 01:24

Looks like we'll get to hear from the female prisoners after all.

Its going to be interesting to watch the Scots govt squirm and admit that they knew this, they did their damnedest to keep their electorate hearing it, and to try and discredit it.

In order to be able to go on following their desire of pandering to men, many of whom are sexually motivated, by sacrificing women to them. Without nasty people telling them that they're doing wrong and fact shaming them in a way that ruins all the feelz.

It's unbelievable. They're fine with harming women. They're fine with raped women. They're fine with highly distressed women. The bit they really care about is other people finding out about it.

Largely I suppose because the electorate will kick off and risk them having to stop their lovely women-harming policy. Which obviously is so very important to them.

@Rainbowshit can you find the actual article? Although the image of the Sunday Post suggests that female inmates’ views on TW prisoners in their prisons is their lead item, I cannot personally see the actual article anywhere….very annoying!

I hope the article will be online later.

I live in England so no chance of that! It’s a Scottish paper I believe?

RainWithSunnySpells · 18/02/2024 10:34

It might be worth checking to see if Wings Over Scotland makes a post about this later.

Yeah the article will be online later after Sunday. Sunday Post needs support so if you are in Scotland buy it. Marion Scott and the Post helped expose the Mesh Scandal and other women's issues:

https://muckrack.com/marion-scott/articles

Considering many Unions in Scotland have just effectively voted that women don't exist at the Scottish Labour Conference the Sunday Post will be needed more than ever:

Thanks fromorbit - so men get to decide what women are allowed to discuss at conference? What next, compulsory burkas for those with a cervix?

Froodwithatowel · 18/02/2024 11:13

When Labour Party men feel it is necessary for them to control and regulate women's voices and topics for the betterment of society then that's sadly a reasonable question. Particularly as this is hushing up the needs of the least privileged and most marginalised groups of women. In case they get in the way of looking all lovely and progressive, and in the way of enabling male sexual freedoms and control of women.

The misogyny baked in is quite unbelievable. Labour the party of 'Social Justice'? No. Not this century.

Here's the article from The Sunday Post for those who can't buy a copy: https://mcusercontent.com/02a6eb6d54ebca9516e19dcd8/images/31bd7b04-83b3-682c-531f-31c6542f56c4.jpeg

Waitwhat23 · 18/02/2024 18:11

I bought The Sunday Post earlier (I don't normally buy any newspapers at all) to show support, for this and also because I was made aware of their work on amplifying the voices of the victims of the mesh scandal.

Helleofabore · 18/02/2024 18:14

The accounts sound like they are the same as those released in the study that was done capturing the female prisoner's views.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 18/02/2024 18:27
