Dead people should be able to change their gender, says Labour MP

A Labour MP has called for the law to be changed so transgender people can have their gender changed posthumously in official records.

In a written question to Parliament last month, Charlotte Nichols, the MP representative for Warrington North, asked if the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004 could be changed “to allow transgender people who are deceased to be legally remembered by the gender they lived by”.

Replying, Stuart Andrew, the equalities minister, said that the Government had no plans to further amend the Act.

He said: “Where a person was using their new gender with an organisation prior to their death, and that was on their personal records, then we anticipate that the organisation would engage with their family members using the new gender.”

Mr Andrew added that “[t]hese organisations could include the NHS”.
His response has fuelled concerns of “self-ID becoming normalised in the NHS.”

So other people will decide whether a person wanted to change sex, after said person has died and lost the ability to consent or protest?

Re-baptising the dead and transing the dead has been popular for some time, this just extends it.

Like most Christian faiths, the LDS Church believes that baptism is required for one to enter God’s presence after death. And since Mormons believe they're the only ones with divine authority to perform binding baptisms, they have built an elaborate missionary system to offer this to people throughout the world.

As for the millions of people who lived before founding Mormon prophet Joseph Smith restored God's church to the earth, they get posthumous baptisms. This is a way for Mormons to offer the "ordinances of salvation" to those on their family tree who never received them while they were alive and while this would be peculiar practice if left to just the immediate relatives of LDS members, it was discovered in 1995 that the LDS had performed these proxy baptisms on hundreds of thousands of Jews who had died in the Holocaust.

Sufficed to say this angered Jewish groups to no end. Jews for over a millennium have experienced forced conversions by Christians and Muslims so one can understand why this would be a particularly sensitive topic.

Yup it's always about consent and controlling the narrative. This idea is insane. But then, state collusion in fraudulent documents like birth certificates seemed insane within living memory. Yet we had the GRA so presumably this could happen if there are enough stupid MPs elected to push it through.

Id have thought given the reduction in cost and the relative ease we have now for changing your gender officially the onus is really on the individual to sort that before death. If it’s as important as we are always being told it is.

I think they are just trying to get us to actually spontaneously combust with rage at this point.

It seems to be mainly about children. Brianna Ghey lived in her constituency. The other person mentioned is a 17-year-old who was recorded as the opposite sex by the coroner.

But who gets to decide? What if one parent supports the child’s cross sex identification and the other disagrees that the child is genuinely transsexual?

The official record should record facts. The grieving relatives can still remember their loved one as they wish.

I used to think that the Tories had some loony members but Labour has done some heavy recruiting and has pulled ahead. Shame this Labour lot of loons have reached a hand-maiden level of misogyny (IMO).

Doesn’t bode well for real women or for gender questioning children and teens after the coming electoral landslide.

My worry is that Starmer won’t do anything about funding the NHS or education or police or local councils but he can give something like the free gift of self ID to proclaim their progressiveness in the comfort of knowing it only negatively affects women (and children and teens).

Its like they have never watched an episode of 'Who do you Think you Are'.
