Yes.

Holding a gender critical belief is protected, as are the belief that gay people are sinful, that marriage equality is wrong, and that there are differences in intelligence between races, as, I suspect, is climate change denial.

I'm fairly sure that climate change denial, a belief that marriage equality is wrong etc are not protected under the Equality Act, because they don't meet the Grainger test. Of course, if they constitute part of a religious belief, they would be protected, because religious belief is protected under the Act.

Given the presumed prevailing ethos at the Guardian, I would guess that the piece has been scrutinised word for word as disgruntled colleagues looked for reasons not to publish it so I am also guessing that points made in it do stand up and are inarguable

Climate change denial, IQ differences between races and a lack of belief in the existence of gender identity are all views which are not illegal but not supported by qualfied experts in those fields. It should be blindingly obvious that holding one of those views doesn't necessarily mean you hold other others.
