So, back to Jo Phoenix, I so love the fact that her surname is Phoenix, it should be a gift to the headline writers!

So brilliant this result. I am very careful what I say at work but will maybe be less so now.

Yeah Felix's advice for women to attend voluntary police interviews ( and without a legal representative ? ) was particularly amazing. It's for your own good, you've got nothing to fear, the police never misbehave........

I hope the verdicts of Jo and other women give more confidence to people being bullied at work to take action. It's expensive, but more and more results are coming out the same way. Too many to be painted as a one off or a blip, many results all going the same way. The wording of the judgements are very telling too, plenty to take heart from.
I admire JKR more and more with every result for doing soo much to uphold women's rights in the face of ladyface misogyny. These legal victories are the best form of direct action.

Why do transgender people have the special right to not be ‘outed’, i.e. having to declare their sex? What is the reason for this taboo that does not apply to other people?

Very good question! 👏

There is also the point that in 99% of cases most people can tell with a single glance. A beard is a bit of a giveaway for example.

My niece has a beard, poor kid. S/he went the whole hog with this stuff.

Still very obviously female at more than first glance though.

The short answer is that they don't. It's a classic piece of overextension by TRAs. People with a GRC cannot be asked to produce it or even if they have one. If you discover that a person has a GRC in the course of your work then it is a criminal offence to share that information. If a person tells you that they have a GRC as part of a casual conversation then you can legally share that knowledge with anyone else. Only a decent respect for the person's privacy would prevent you.

It might be discrimination against a person without a GRC who has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment to reveal their true sex but this would be on a case by case basis.
