Looking, I might add, quite frightening. Genuinely alien-like.

He was never a "Broadway star" even if he identified as one.

Mulvaney has never acted on Broadway. His only 'significant' parts were in the ensemble for a Book of Mormon tour and 2/3 secondary roles in San Diego based musicals. That's nothing close to the level of those who get an invite to the globes.

He's there because he's famous for his videos.

He's there now because theres a good chance he's not going to be famous enough to be there next year.

Because Hollywood, despite being the sleaziest, most morally bankrupt place in the world loves to virtue signal.

He's not looking good - he's done some strange things to his face.

So have half the women on my morning commuter train but I wouldn’t call them “alien like”.

It’s really not self explanatory.
No matter what this person has said/done, there’s no call to comment on how they look.

You’re describing something akin to the uncanny valley. You know he’s a man who’s done weird things to his face, his eyebrows look odd, it’s an artificial look: he’s pretending to be something he’s not. It provokes a human reaction because we sense something doesn’t click.

But mostly it’s his eyebrows.

They are promoting themselves using how they look. In fact, it is a primary part of them 'being a girl'.
As Dylan is making a living from how they look (including being open about surgical cosmetic procedures) then I think responding to that image with comments is fair and acceptable.
I think the alien look is a combination of very pale face and dark eyes in the camera flash, plus flat (botoxed?) forehead and nose shape.

I think he looks unwell.
I also think photos like the ones above demonstrate just how filtered a lot of the images of many TW are.

I love her dress, hate the hair and makeup.

“Alien like” = like an alien.

And given the quite considerable lengths Dylan has gone to to alter his appearance, and the very public way he has done so, I think it’s perfectly fair that people may comment on how he looks.

Is that not what the Kardashian’s do?

I don’t know who any of these people are so looking at it from a purely simple angle, it’s someone in a gorgeous gown smiling into a camera, what on Earth have a pair of eyebrows and forehead got to do with anything and why does it upset people enough to make such a comment about them looking “alien like”?

The eyebrows don’t seem that odd to me - lots of women have odd eyebrows due to shaving them off and painting new ones on.

But the top of the face down to the cheekbones is much wider than the chin, to the point that it looks bizarre, like two separate faces joined together. And I understand the alien comment as it looks like an android/alien attempt at a human disguise. The face is likely to cause unease because of that. Perhaps it’s overzealous contouring with make-up that’s making it look so extreme.

Exactly. He’s famous only for pretending to be a girl and a remarkable number of gullible people going along with it. He’s contributed nothing to our screens except shitty YouTube videos. There’s millions of those.

And if how he looks wasn’t important he would have turned up in a trackie bottoms and a hoodie. Instead he put - one presumes - effort into looking like that. It can’t be assumed that if you’re going to attempt to look a certain way that you will provoke an entirely positive reaction. Some people will find it negative. And it’s perfectly reasonable to comment on that, otherwise don’t go to the Golden Globes.

It's surgery, though the clown makeupprobablydoesn't help. I think its fairy obvious what alien-like means. People who have substantial plastic surgery end up with shiny, too-smooth skin and odd facial proportions. Its the same look that Madonna and a lot of older celebs have but unusual to be so extreme on one so young.

Personally I agree that such criticism is unhelpful, especially when its going to get mixed in with serious topics, but people can discuss what they like.

I imagine Dylan didn’t get to choose this one. Usually the photos are carefully curated.

I would be disappointed- for all I dislike Dylan’s behaviour, the usual Audrey Hepburn look was pretty good.

If I was Dylan’s Mum ( or even a friend) I would be quite worried. Much too thin, when you consider how much the camera puts on. Arms are stick like.

I wonder if Dylan is still enjoying being a girl?

It looks like Dylan has had plastic surgery on the cheap. The eyebrows are poorly situated, the cheekbones look as if they came from a Pick & Mix bin, and the upper half of his face is incongrous with the lower half.

God, it's so sad. And weird. There's no part of me that sees Dylan Mulvaney as a 27-year-old woman - playing with tampons and calling a vagina a barbie pouch.

No-one does.

Trans people talk about 'othering'. Dylan is just othering himself to the point of no return.

When this fad is over, or when it's over for Dylan, what is he going to do after all that surgery?

Is he going to keep having more procedures, just stay relevant? To the next generation who will absolutely not be viewing him as a 'girl'?

And that, ladies and gents, is why plastic surgery it to be approached with caution.

Uncanny valley, proportions all askew, 5 o’clock shadow lurking beneath the makeup. Using plastic surgery to mimic what you are not is not the choice of a healthy individual.

The most common image of an extraterrestrial alien is of a very pale face with skin like plastic, very dark eyes and a lower face much narrower than the upper face.

So the "alien" comment is understandable
