I'm no fan of Munroe, and I am FURIOUS that they've been given the UN role, however I'm not sure that people should keep bringing up quotes MB made ten years or so ago?

I wouldn't want to be judged on something I said ten years ago (hey, I was a lib dem back then), so I don't think we should judge others in that way too?

Because it is relevant for the pattern of misogynistic behaviour.

I doubt that this person has become less of a misogynist than they were. They are wholly inappropriate for this role.

Munroe should not be afforded public roles after the inviting children to chat by DM.

There are red lines.

What a bizarre choice. I wonder if a woman who’d been sacked or let go of for such behaviour before would continue to be offered inappropriate roles by important bodies.

therealcookiemonster · 23/12/2023 00:25

it doesn't even surprise or shock anymore. 😒

Katkins17 · 24/12/2023 12:51

This is how lovely this guy is…. If a woman had said anything as revolting as this, she wouldn’t have a job…let alone a position in the UN.

they certainly know who the men are, even after a face full of surgery, head tilt and fake boobs.

UN women UK appoints first ever UK champion.
JellySaurus · 24/12/2023 19:01

I wonder whether the UN's Special Rapporteur on VAWG, Reem Alsalem, will meet the UNWomen's UNWoman UK champ on her visit to the UK in Feb.

This is the warning I got when I clicked on the website. Seems appropriate.

From the article: “It’s a responsibility that I don’t take lightly,” Bergdorf added. “I will use this role to further advocate for the progress, safety, inclusion and empowerment of ALL women and girls, of all communities and identities"

That's nice dear.

Meaning focus purely in the nouveau-women and not the being old fashioned types. Why doesn’t the UN have a Trans Spokesperson to speak on trans issues? Because they certainly aren’t the same as women’s issues.

duc748 · 25/12/2023 22:54

It's like, every day, a new lunacy, a new insult. 😠

I think there's a more recent thread but I can't find it. Julie B in Spiked on the person with the weird attitude to sister's knickers

The UN’s insult to women

Why has yet another man been appointed to represent British women on the global stage?

Plasmodesmata · 05/03/2024 11:24

Are there any of the old-fashioned type of women given these appointments, at all?

I assume it was deleted because women were discussing paraphilias, admitted to openly by Katie Neeves.

It's okay for a male to talk about stealing his sister's underwear.

Not okay for women to mention it.

Why is that?

OP posts:
IcakethereforeIam · 05/03/2024 11:41

Because it makes men look bad?

ArabellaScott · 05/03/2024 12:39

Because men's sexual wants and desires are considered more important than women's wellbeing was what I had in mind. But also that.

OP posts:
Ofcourseshecan · 05/03/2024 13:18

Oh yes, I noticed that thread got deleted. Was it just because we risked hurting a man's feelings?

Surely it's important to shout loud and clear "Men are not women. Do not collude in their fantasies at women's expense."

Not okay for women to mention it.

Why is that?

It was truthful.

And it was truths that made male people look bad.

After Laurel Hubbard won a “Sportswoman of the Year” award in New Zealand, absolutely nothing could surprise me anymore.

IwantToRetire · 09/03/2024 00:20

The UN told DailyMail.com that Neeves was a 'guest attendee' of the 68th annual event and did not represent the world body.

'Katie is one of over 6,000 guest attendees from the UK virtually attending CSW68, where they will listen to and learn with guests from around the world,' said the email.

'They will bring practical ideas and inspiration back to their organizations and communities in the UK.'

The commission is the UN's biggest annual gabfest on gender equality, and seeks to tackle why women still get paid less than men and the 10.3 percent of women who languish in extreme poverty globally.

(Have to say that DM headline rather twists the words of the UN. But the issue still remains how and why UK UN didn't prioritise biologival females.)

UN praises trans activist as an 'inspiration' for women's rights meet

Katie Neeves has revealed her backstory, and how as a boy he would 'secretly dress in my sister's clothes' because it 'felt so right' even as he felt 'shame and self-loathing' because 'it was dirty.'
