Not to put too fine a point on it, Chapman's brain has left her and is currently orbiting the planet Jupiter.

Eight year olds, blimey...

hamstersarse · 12/12/2023 15:05

I met a real life children's consultant at a party last year who had these exact same views. To the letter.

What is horrifying is they sort of know it is absolute bullshit, you can hear it in the slight hesitations when you say things the interview did like "so do you think 8 year olds should vote?" but such is their 'Intellectual' arrogance, they have an absolute belief that if you don't subscribe to their beliefs then you are a thicko far right pleb who just 'doesn't get it'. Which is obviously the cue for the patronising 'be kind' explanations - why do they all have the exact same tone of voice?

The irony of this ideology (actually homophobic, actually not kind) is quite a sight to behold.

Coolstorysis · 12/12/2023 15:11

I think it's the voice of the disingenuous, it's detectable everywhere once you recognise it.

Lottapianos · 12/12/2023 15:13

Oh dear god. What a complete muppet. Tom Swarbrick did well there to keep the conversation sensible and factual, on his side at least. The more publicity these daft people get, the better. You can imagine any sane listener thinking 'EIGHT YEAR OLDS???!!! WTF?!' 😱

That tone of voice... like the "non-binary" woman and the "santa is real" woman from Walsh's film... it is chilling... I am not sure what it is, but there's something about an aggressive man that is horrible, but when a woman seeks to come off as something like a mix of the kindest woman to have ever walked the earth combined with sweet six yer old girl, and then starts talking about sterilising kids.... I dunno, it's like finding out that your friend's toddler is actually a serial killer, somehow seems worse than finding out your creepy neighbour with a string of assault convictions is one.

Coolstorysis · 12/12/2023 15:17

She contradicted herself by asking if anyone knows their own genome, actual solid gold idiot.

TWETMIRF · 12/12/2023 15:18

They always like to say how they have spoken to trans people who have known since they were children. They deliberately don't say that they can't know how many people changed their minds after going through puberty as they are busy getting on with their lives and wouldn't be involved with trans organisations.

hamstersarse · 12/12/2023 15:19

Yeah, they have known since they were children because they have been indoctrinated by your poisonous ideology!

Is James O'Brien the absolute master of it?

AnonnyMouseDave · 12/12/2023 15:18

I just mean that you can tell when someone is reading from a hymn sheet, a certain proscribed view. Rather than arguing from a genuinely held and considered position in good faith.

hamstersarse · 12/12/2023 15:20

Is James O'Brien the absolute master of it?

I think he would certainly be up there, drives me mad.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/12/2023 15:28

That's from January, but yes, what an idiot. Why would humans be the only species on the planet unable to detect what sex another member of their species is?

viques · 12/12/2023 15:33

I haven’t had my chromosomes checked,(haven’t had my colours done either, blimey, how remiss am I) but since I have grown my own breasts, have a vagina through which I birthed a child, have had a life time of periods, and have been through the menopause I am prepared to put money on being a fully paid up adult human female with XX chromosomes. It really isn’t rocket science is it?

Like the vast majority of other species on the planet, particularly within the subset known as mammals ,we humans are binary , and we can’t change our sex determined at conception no matter how much some people want to pretend that we can.

What has happened to peoples ability to think?

She's aff her heid! Her bum's right oot the windae.

Poor poor Scotland!

Is she South African?

SirChenjins · 12/12/2023 15:55

What's the moon done to deserve being wired to Loopy Lou?? That's a bit unfair to igneous rocks everywhere.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/12/2023 16:02

"Wired to the moon" sums it up perfectly. Sadly she's also dangerous having access to power and able to undermine basic safeguarding of children

AnonnyMouseDave · 12/12/2023 16:08

Coolstorysis · 12/12/2023 15:21

I just mean that you can tell when someone is reading from a hymn sheet, a certain proscribed view. Rather than arguing from a genuinely held and considered position in good faith.

Thanks. When a TRAs is parroting the "proscribed view" they could -

(1) Be doing so in the belief it is all rubbish but they wish to spout rubbish for their own ends, whatever they might be.

(2) Be doing so in the belief it is partly rubbish but they believe the ends justify the means because the belief system is, give or take, correct.

(3) Be doing so from a position of knowing that they have never really thought it all though, but simply trust the "priests" that the hymn sheet is correct.

(4) Be doing so from the position that they genuinely think that they've done their research and know for a fact that the hymn sheet is correct.

Do you think there is any way of getting an insight into which one of the four options applies to a particular individual? Do you think TRAs fall into all four camps, or are most of them in one or two of those categories?

I would imagine that most people are (3)s, but maybe that is m bias because I was a (3) before I engaged my brain (and heard Magdalene Berns spell it out clearly!)

catduckgoose · 12/12/2023 16:10

By Maggie Chapman's logic, if an eight-year-old child feels that they would vote for a particular political party, and then a decade later vote for that same party after they turn eighteen, this implies that all eight-year-old children should be allowed to vote.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 12/12/2023 16:10

AnonnyMouseDave · 12/12/2023 15:18

Explain further please!

For me, it's that you can tell when someone isn't telling the truth because their vocal chords tighten a bit and change their voice slightly. Once you've listened to someone a lot, you can hear it. I know someone who lies very confidently and have learned to detect the small change in his voice when he's doing it, and with other people too.

HagoftheNorth · 12/12/2023 16:11

Rude - and yet….

Maggie Chapman is always highly amusing, as long as you can forget just how much power she has.

I totally don’t get this ‘nobody really knows what sex they are’ nonsense, because she obviously believes that trans people DO know what sex they are (but somehow thinks everybody else is confused?)

HagoftheNorth · 12/12/2023 16:13

Oh, and MC should really spend some time talking to detransitioners, and maybe their parents too
