Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Another man trying to hijack women's experiences.

Cheewawa · 12/12/2023 10:26

Was just on a forum and a thread was started about women's 2nd puberty/menopause.

Lots of women talking about their experiences and someone posts 'The only time I've ever heard to term 2nd puberty is when trans people start transitioning later in life and take hormones. adds an anecdote about crying whilst making dinner'

Click on this 'ladies' profile and yep, it's a bloke.

Why can't they let us have anything?? Why do they try and take every biological, female experience and twist it into a trans issue.

But TW don't want bespoke support that is actually suited to their needs. They want affirmation our support and they want us to cheer them on while they get it.

I'm not reading that Modibodi link, but unfortunately my imagination is filling in the gaps

I came across this the other day...wish I hadn't!

I've seen some downright bullshit in my time but this takes the biscuit.

Every third word in it is affirming or affirmation so you've probably filled in the gaps correctly.

That modibodi blog is grim. Have bought some of their stuff before but not now. Especially not if you got returned items 🤮

Extract from that fucking article:

How to support trans women during their period
Being a good ally to trans women during their period means being respectful, understanding and supportive. Here are some key ways to be there for them:
^^

  • Be kind towards the trans women in your life, and acknowledge their experience as women. Respect their names, pronouns and bodies.
  • Create a safe space for them to share their feelings and concerns.
  • Educate yourself about trans experiences, including menstruation, and help correct misinformation (cites resources I'm not going to bother naming here but which certainly aren't based in any scientific or biological reality)
  • Practice patience and empathy

Soo... be kind, center them, indoctrinate yourself, be kind.

During their period? What period? What is a period? I always understood it to be a physical process, where the lining of the uterus is shed once a month if it is not needed for a pregnancy. So what is going on with these people?

Holy crap is there nothing these companies won't do to try and grift a quick sale out of a new group of people? Aside from the obvious anti-woman agenda, this is so obviously written to manipulate TW into thinking they need to buy period pants to "validate" their femaleness, it's fucking sick.

The whole thing is awful.

I really hope TW figure out all these companies don't support them in the slightest, they're just after their money. And I look forward to the massive backlash when that happens. Maybe the aggressive TRAs could turn their attention to these businesses manipulating TW and taking advantage of the people they claim to support because this sort of thing is doing genuine damage to transwomen.

Flufferblub · 12/12/2023 17:30

Ok I read the article. It seems that they're defining period as symptoms associated with the hormones they are taking. They list the symptoms as:

  • Anxiety
  • Appetite changes
  • Bloating due to water retention
  • Cramping
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Listlessness
  • Mood swings

So..... why do you need period products for these symptoms? I don't see discharge or blood or flooding from your vagina on this list. 🤔 Want to wear the period products just to be affirmed. Ok, if you want. Affirmed to who? Yourself?

Sorry, I don't really get this

This line made me laugh, "Trans women’s periods are not well understood just yet." Well yes because it's something that we all know doesn't actually exist...

The sheer irony of “educate yourself and…correct misinformation” from a company claiming that men have periods.

Support a transwoman having their period?!?!?

WOW. We really are through the fucking looking glass now ladies and gentlemen!

How about everyone supports me in my struggles with erectile disfunction because it's just as fucking ludicrous a suggestion as a transwoman having a period.

Riapia · 12/12/2023 18:14

Modibodi. You are taking advantage of the seriously disillusioned.
Shame on you.

Who are these transphobes that insist that being a woman has something to do with physical bodies? I thought saying that made you a terf?

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 12/12/2023 19:11

Im sure pumping their bodies full of the wrong hormones does play havoc with their bodies and moods. Im sure some of the surgeries they have cause all sorts of leakages.

But slipping on period pants is going to do fuck all to help them.

These men can think of a million new words for a million new genders, but they have to co opt words to describe female experiences to describe their self made problems. Odd, isnt it?

Who makes up this shit?

Time40 · 12/12/2023 19:38

That blog really is one of the nuttiest things I've ever read. Totally bonkers.

Just as an aside, with reference to a comment upthread, I remember reading Pink News in the 90s. It was fine, actually - not woman-hating at all. It was just a newspaper for gay men. Or maybe that was a totally different Pink News?

It's just a slang term for the changes made to women's bodies when they go through menopause it's a change in their bodies.

It's basically just a silly phrase for menopause. It's not that deep.

But apparently transwomen have menopause too, because we can't have anything without them wanting in on it.

The world has gone mad! Yes come and buy extortionately priced underwear. Only such pricey absorption will validate your experience of imagined blood loss. What? You don’t feel the blood loss? Worth every penny then.

Truthlikeness · 12/12/2023 19:57

I've read some pretty grim accounts of the fluids that come out of surgically created pseudo vaginas, so perhaps there's a use? It's not a period though. Periods are entirely a function of the uterus and the ovaries. A period is not the harmful side effects of taking wrong sex hormones.
I'm currently 'enjoying' the perimenopause. It's mainly made me very tired and consequently, even less inclined to put up with this utter bullshit.

LakeTiticaca · 12/12/2023 19:57

I read recently that some transwomen are using tomato puree to simulate menstrual flow.......
