Closet TERFs

Saw something on Twitter earlier suggesting that Lineker must be a closet TERF given that he hasn't made any overtly TWAW type comments.

Given that it's easy peasy to flaunt one's gender ideology credentials in the current climate, one can't help but wonder if those who could but aren't are actually in the sane GC camp, but timid/terrified/being gagged by editors/agents.

On which basis - which names would you add to the list?

I'll start.... Caitlin Moran. Conspicuously silent....

I'm sure she improvises when it comes to her interview scenes. But written for by the wonderful Charlie Brooker who created the character many years ago. Now I wish he was a terf.

It has always irked me that Diane Morgan doesn’t get a writing credit on Cunk for ‘additional material’. She improvises so brilliantly - that’s all from her own initiative, not a script.

WRT Brianna, Jess named her separately to draw a distinction.

There are quite a few sitcoms/comedy dramas around with suspiciously terfy jokes, Upstart Crow, White Lotus and Loudermilk for starters, must be some terves on those writing teams.

Vaguely recall Jesse and Katie on Blocked and Reported saying there is a movie coming out this year about all the purity spiralling and cancelling and sensitivity reader-ing in the world of Young Adult Fiction so that has the potential for big screen terfiness!

Upstart Crow - that was written by Ben Elton wasn't it? I've not seen the terfy jokes in that. But he also wrote Identity Crisis, which sends up the whole woke thing. (Though wasn't he also on thst notorious C4 Friday Night Live... So not sure about him, really).

@WitchyWitcherson i don’t know about Konnie Huq but her sister Rupa is an MP and has been dreadful on this issue.

Oh dear - although I tend to think spouses agree more than siblings... I certainly am more aligned with my partner than my brother. Anyway, total speculation on Konnie. I just really can't imagine Charlie Brooker blithely agreeing with the TWAW mantra. The subject of 'society being captured by gender ideology' would make a cracking Black Mirror episode if he were brave enough! It's already pretty dystopian in reality 😂

Konnie Huq has been targeted by online TRA trolls for the sin of liking a terfy post before. Can't remember who but it was someone like Kathleen Stock. Charlie has never commented on trans stuff that I know of so at this stage I would assume that he's at least mildly gendersceptical.

She's also been accused of saying the wrong thing in her column before. Notice it tends to be directed at women when people pore over their work and social media for the tiniest evidence that they may not completely hold the accepted opinion.
