Parodists or saboteurs/saboteuses?
Thass very sophisticated!

PTSDBarbiegirl · 03/12/2023 15:12

Fake. There is no 'biological' in front of women so it's drawing obvious mirth and passive gaslighting from 'biological men'.

Or maybe just written by a pink/blue brigade head scout.

Villagetoraiseachild · 03/12/2023 15:06

But who would fake it and why?

Disruntled female customer who was told to use the disabled toilet because she didn't want to share a toilet with men. Why? To make a point.

It’s a real place in Bedford and that’s their logo

Yes I know. I was there today and took the photo.

Yes@JaninaDuszejko , that could be it.....
Brava to her.

Villagetoraiseachild · 03/12/2023 15:22

Op, am trying to watch the snooker but this is way more interesting.
Was the sign on every loo door, or just the one?

I didn't check the other cubicles I just snapped it quickly as DH was upstairs waiting for me stuffing his face with Greggs

I don't live in Bedford so not likely to be able to check again but it was on the back of the cubicle door I didn't see any signs on the way in or in the communal bits.

For social media clout.

Froodwithatowel · 03/12/2023 15:50

That's intended to incite women to complain and be angry about it, and to face women and men with the reality of the situation.

As opposed to merely being frightened when they abruptly discover a male in their space without warning, and being forced to sneak the fuck out of dodge without hopefully being screamed at or worse, while discovering the horrible reality that these public spaces are now for men and those women who are both privileged enough and willing to provide themselves as men's validating resources. And don't see women as being deserving of anything better.

Bravo, I'm for it.

pieceofpasta · 03/12/2023 16:33

I think it's great. Perhaps we should make them for other shops

Villagetoraiseachild · 03/12/2023 16:41

Aha, I see...
Pre emptive action.
I wonder what will happen first, a stampede to the facilities for disabled persons or complaint to the management?
But yes, it's telling the quiet part out loud.

aname1234 · 04/12/2023 13:55

It's brilliant. we need to plant these stickers everywhere. Blazing sunlight

MsFogi · 04/12/2023 14:00

It's actually a bloody brilliant sticker for StickerWomen to use as inspiration for future sticker campaigns - parodies of the policies of various places (and possibly may stay in situ for longer if they have the relevant logo on).

AdultLounge · 05/12/2023 00:39

I want to make some for the David Lloyd changing room!!!

These changing rooms are for women and girls as well as biological men who "feel like a woman" and want to display their lady cocks to your daughters.

Perfect!

determinedtomakethiswork · 05/12/2023 07:20

I think the clue is in the word self-identify. This person is warning women and girls to get out of those bathrooms if they feel uncomfortable. I think they are on our side.

morningtoncrescent62 · 05/12/2023 07:24

If it's fake and intended to get women complaining, I think it needs to be a bit more obvious. I agree the language isn't on point for gender identity ideology, but it could easily be taken as a company with incomplete understanding doing their best to follow what they think are the new rules without being on top of the approved-of terminology.

theDudesmummy · 05/12/2023 07:33

It is parody/call to action if it is inside the cubicle door.

Chersfrozenface · 05/12/2023 08:22

I suspect someone has receipts.

For instance, an email sent to the centre asking about its policy on transgender people in the toilets, a reply welcoming those who identify as female into the women's loos, a query about women and girls who are uncomfortable with this, a reply saying they should use the disabled toilet.

So the sticker is an accurate summary of the centre's official policy, provable from written sources.

Bunshaped · 05/12/2023 08:45

So the sticker is an accurate summary of the centre's official policy, provable from written sources.

I agree, it must be this. Most people won't read a full policy, so whoever's done it has lifted the relevant part (or part of an email response) and publicised it for all women and girls using those toilets.

Would love to know what happens next.

hellsBells246 · 05/12/2023 10:00

Sounds like a piss-take. I hope!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 05/12/2023 13:40

I think it's real (both the sign and the policy) as someone above says it checks out as a shopping centre in Bedford that has just had a fancy refurbishment. I suspect women were complaining at the fact that they had unexpectedly encountered a man in the ladies loos and complained thinking that something would be done about it.

The 'compromise' has (I suspect) been that if that's what the policy is you should tell women that that is what the policy is. 'Our side' wouldn't approve of the policy 'their side' wouldn't approve of the language some poor shopping centre employee stuck in the middle getting an earful from unhappy women trying to defend a policy that is fundamentally indefensible has gone ahead and made these.

ProtectAndTerf · 05/12/2023 13:46

I think it's brilliant. Absolute genius.

Whether written by someone who was asked to make a sign and doesn't agree with the policy, or (more likely IMO) someone who is aware of the policy and sneaked in a formal looking sign to spell out the reality, it's such a good idea.

We should do more of these, wherever we have receipts for it being the official policy of the place.

What is brilliant about it is that it spells out simply what is going on, without using piss-taking language. I know @AdultLounge was probably joking with her example sign, but anything referencing lady cock or "feeling like..." is too far. The power is in the subtlety, the bald facts stated politely.

We need to make this a thing!

AdultLounge · 05/12/2023 14:31

@ProtectAndTerf

It was a joke, but I've been seriously thinking about it all morning!

Even checked to see how many David Lloyds there are in the UK - 130.

Print out and laminate an A5 poster with DL logo and say something like.

"Just a reminder as per our policy, this changing room is for women, girls and men who "feel like a woman".

If seeing a naked man makes you or your daughters uncomfortable please feel free to use the disabled toilets.

Please be kind."

Then a excerpt of their actual policy.

Would love to have 130 mumsnetters to stick them on the back of toilet doors in the same week.

The Daily Mail would love it!

David Lloyds wouldn't be able to back down quick enough.

MsFogi · 05/12/2023 15:45

I agree @AdultLounge if GC Mners start doing this in gyms, shopping centre loos etc and base the language on the policies of the venues it really shines a light on the reality of the policies and gets people thinking. Also it is a little difficult for venues to wriggle out of given that it is their policy!!
