This is obviously the correct decision, the only surprising thing is that it has taken so long.
While the standard of women’s cricket has improved, and the best players are outstanding, (England’s Sarah Taylor was widely considered to be the world’s best wicket keeper), many bowlers still look uncomfortable with the size & weight of the ball (which is slightly smaller than men use) and the length of the pitch (which isn’t). That is to be expected, given that the physics of the game evolved to suit male physiques & strength.
Having huge, biologically male fast bowlers hurling the ball down at 90+ mph from a height of 2.2m would simply make a mockery of the women’s game, in addition to the obvious safety concerns.
