Tampons for men

Is this really a necessity or a company jumping on the bandwagon (note the blue packaging). Does anyone really care who buys tampons in this day and age. However the article does have some corkers. Did you know asexual people menstruate? No idea why they think they didn’t and there is even a paragraph on how to address a cross dresser - I have no idea what that has to with tampons.

Vuokkoset For men tamponi

Vuokkoset For men tampon

Periods aren’t just an issue for women, as trans men and non-binary people may also have a womb and periods. That’s why Vuokkoset launches tampon for men during international Transgender Awareness…

@ApocalipstickNow you need to copyright that really quick!

ChishiyaBat · 19/11/2023 23:16

Manpons is the best thing i've read all day😂😂😂

FrangipaniBlue · 19/11/2023 23:21

"Cultural expectations" aka "sex based stereotypes" which you are perpetuating you stupid people 🤦🏽‍♀️

Tinysoxxx · 19/11/2023 23:22

Also have a Dh who is fine buying tampons, though did have a laugh when he asked whether to get lime or lemon.

Boiledbeetle · 19/11/2023 23:30

"Asexuals and non-binary people can also have periods."

Sigh!

Nope!

Asexual and non-binary WOMEN can also have periods.

Male asexual and non binary individuals despite their special feels status will still not have periods.

(And don't even get me started on the asexual and non binary shit)

Topofthemountain · 19/11/2023 23:35

GAH I did a whole post and it disappeared.

In short, the brand is very expensive, I can't see it being a top seller.

Hereforthebunfights · 19/11/2023 23:38

But... doesn't tampax come in a blue packet anyway?

AtrociousCircumstance · 19/11/2023 23:40

I think the AI overlords who are controlling our simulation are really fucking about with the parameters now.

I am wondering if the Tampax blue box isn't validating because the person that designed that box designed it for women, whereas they can be confident that the new blue box was designed by someone who believed themselves to be designing it for men.

Dowhadiddydiddydum · 20/11/2023 06:18

Doesn’t this all fly in the face of “sex doesn’t =gender”. Aren’t we told gender is nothing to do with sex, people don’t need to pass to be women etc.

Just checked my tampon box, says nothing on the outside packaging at all about “women”, doesn’t even have a picture of of anything “feminine” or “girly”.

seems to be solving a problem that doesn’t even exist.

ApocalipstickNow · 20/11/2023 06:42

There’s nothing at all girly or womanly or feminine about tampon packaging- in fact the only thing about them that is is, err, their purpose.

The pink/blue pound is out there and there’s some who want it.

There’s probably some basic supermarket range in very plain packaging that costs half the price.

Someone’s hoping there’s room on the gravy train.

BeethovenNinth · 20/11/2023 06:49

It’s batshit. In twenty years it will be laughed about.

merrymelodies · 20/11/2023 06:57

Maybe some people use them for anal incontinence? 🤔

Pickledprawn · 20/11/2023 07:10

Can I buy them too as a biological women? Or are they like Yorkie bars and "not for girls" anyone else remember that??

Staggersaurus · 20/11/2023 07:40

In my Monday morning brain fug I read this as tampons for penis havers. I was imagining tiny tampons inserted up their bell ends with the rip cord hanging out.

Yirk · 20/11/2023 07:50

No, just no!!! Only biological women need tampons!!

Sick of this thought policing.

ApocalipstickNow · 20/11/2023 08:08

There’s plenty of ways to get tampons to you without face to face contact if that is triggering to someone’s dysphoria about menstruating.

There can’t be many people never do an online supermarket shop. Both Amazon and eBay sell tampons, major retailers like Superdrug do online shopping. You can just type in tampon you don’t have to search in any women’s section if that’s triggering.

Tampon packaging is not overly feminine looking, indeed as has been pointed out Tampax come in blue boxes.

But I guess it’s the actual fact of menstruating- something only women/girls/other female mammals do- that is the problem. And rebranding menstrual products as MENstrual products, for manly men men, calling them Big Dude Blood Crushers and slapping on a picture of a lumberjack throat punching a bear or whatever manly man man man stereotype you like won’t change the fact that you menstruate because you’re biologically female. And extra spesh tampons won’t fix that. That validation won’t change that.

If trans men want to buy special tampons or pads that’s their business, but it feels a bit sorrowful, it won’t fix the problem at the heart of it 🤷‍♀️

Nicesalad · 19/11/2023 22:45

But won't buying these tampons be very " outing"?

That is the nonsense of it, isn't it? Someone who is presenting as male buying a pack of Tampax, nobody would bat an eye at - lots of men buy them for their partners/family members. Someone presenting as male picking up a pack of "TAMPONS FOR MEN" in manly Navy blue - much more noticeable...

Also, this sentence: "Trans women may experience discrimination and have their womanhood criticized because they don’t have periods". How are Transwomen experiencing discrimination becuase they don't have periods?! Are we not letting them in our 'period club'? Standing and pointing at them when they come out of the toilets because we know they didn't need to change a tampon? Bizarre.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 20/11/2023 09:47

Why do transmen have periods anyway? Unless they're trying to conceive, I would have thought they would want to stop having periods. Does taking testosterone stop periods, or would they need to take a contraceptive pill? Can both be taken at the same time?

Taking testosterone - the effect on menstruation depends on the dose and also can vary between individuals.

And some women identify as men without taking any medication or making anh physical changes to their bodies. They just use external markers like changing their names, wearing "male" clothing - and buying products with "masculine" styling.

MotherEarthisaTerf · 20/11/2023 13:01

Can’t get het up about this. I understand some people will experience dysphoria - if they want to buy expensive products branded at trans men so be it.

Chersfrozenface · 20/11/2023 13:12

I'm not het up about it.

Though I do think it's a pity that people - in this case girls and women - are being taken for mugs by pedlars of genderwoo and those who spy a profit in its wake.

StellaAndCrow · 20/11/2023 14:45

Yes, as someone said earlier, aren't these going to be "outing"?

So a transman (presenting "manly") has a period, buys a regular box of tampax - no one would bat an eye these days, we're used to blokes buying tampons for partners/friends/family.

But if they buy special "for men" manpons, then aren't they outing themselves? I mean, fine if they want to, but can't see this being universally celebrated.

RapidOnsetGenderCritic · 20/11/2023 15:03

45 years ago I was buying tampons in the supermarket for my girlfriend when she was ill. I was a little embarrassed because I was young and diffident, but that was the only problem with it. The checkout staff didn’t bat an eyelid, and nor did anyone else. Any man buying them for himself is going to have quite a difficult and painful job if he thinks they go in the urethra!

Problem is... The product is branded as "tampons for men".... (Not tampons for female transmen)
If you don't see a problem with that, fine. But I see a slight miniscule issue...
