Pro-Palestine Trans rights activists chant at Leeds Let Women Speak

I have been without internet acess until a few hours ago, and so didn't watch today's live stream - so this headline makes it sound like yet again women were being told they had not right to speak.

Pro-Palestine Trans rights activists stormed a women’s rights demonstration in Leeds, with reports of chants about Israel.

The Let Women Speak gathering has been taking place in Park Square, Leeds city centre, this afternoon (Saturday, November 18). At about 12.45pm, a pro-Palestine/Trans rights group descended on the event.

The feminist Let Women Speak group calls for rights to sex-segregated spaces and its protest is unrelated to the Israel-Gaza war.

Pro-Palestine Trans rights activists chant at Leeds women's rights demonstration

The angry mob could be heard chanting 'from the river to the sea'

It's always puzzled me why they call feminists Nazis.

Well yeah, it obviously doesn't make sense.

But I think we know why they do it: the enemy of the far left are "fascists", so if you're their enemy then you get to take that role in their very simple minds.

GC feminists are taking a (very slightly) conservative position on this one issue, compared to the "progressive" perspective that they invented 5 minutes ago.

So they want to demonise people that are to the "right" of their far left lunacy.

And unfortunately, I suspect this approach does work to some degree.

They want to put the conversation out of bounds and label GC as baddies that decent people reject.

Luckily, they have an uphill struggle on this one because their ideology is so nuts, but you can't deny that the trans-activist movement has had much success in silencing and persecuting opponents. So calling people "fascists" and "Nazis" maybe isn't as dumb as it seems when it comes to tactics anyway.

Yes, uneducated idiots because Hamas would care not to wipe them out along with the Jews. 😂

Wibble128 · 19/11/2023 12:54

The level of ignorance among them is a sad reflection of the long march through the institutions and the effects of the leftwaffe and liberalisation in education and western society. They will all be among the first to be killed should the Hamas/ ISIS factions have their way in any area. Currently they are viewed as usefull idiots who are viewed as expendable by those they proclaim.

quantumbutterfly · 19/11/2023 13:03

leftwaffe..nice portmanteau.

I find the concepts of 'left' and 'right' quite meaningless politically now we're in the era of four legs right bad , left good. It means whatever you want it to mean.

I was at Leeds LWS yesterday and I disagree with the article: there was no 'storming' at all.

The police did their job well (thank you, WYP) and kept us separate. We were in one corner of the square (which is enclosed by iron railings) and the Mob were diagonally opposite and, as far as I could see, on the street outside the railings. Lots of police, including a horse or two. For me, 'storming' would involve the mixing of the two groups.

The Mob made their usual noise and chanted mindless slogans. I'd be interested to know which sea they were chanting about (as if their geography is that good!). The river will be the Aire, but is it the North Sea or the Irish sea? No idea.

Plus, we were a rally and they were the protest.

Seconded! I didn't get there until 1pm, but all was peaceful, well-separated and there were some very impressive police horses.

RebelliousCow · 19/11/2023 13:51

These, largely, young people are totally social media led - and it happens that Israel - Palestine is the current hot topic in leftists circles. They're totally confused and cannot seem to hold apart two separate issues in their heads at any one time. So they've merged them in order to try to find the common enemy - and of course it's "fascists" and " neo-colonial white privilege" .

AdoraFruitcake · 19/11/2023 13:57

Iran (Hamas’ backers) would hang them in the square, stupid twits.

WickedSerious · 19/11/2023 14:45

You'd get more sense out of a bag of damp arseholes.

Well, quite; they're another lot who like to throw gay men off buildings.

KatBurglar · 19/11/2023 15:25

Iran is very pro-trans! They trans away the gay left, right and centre.

Death sentence if you actually are gay, of course.

The protestors were a shower of numpties with frankly bizarre signs.

"Wee Pee Where Wee Want" was one.

EtiennePalmiere · 19/11/2023 17:45

I'd love to hear any of them try to explain the israel-hamas conflict.

elgreco · 19/11/2023 17:48

Hampshire would either prosecute them for being gay or treat them like actual women, don't think they'd like either

Hey, Hampshire is a wonderful, tolerant county.

Thanks for the comments and correcting the impression given by the article.

Good to know Leeds police actually did their job - policing!

And to have a paper correctly describe that Let Women Speak is about Women ...

But agree with the many points about the so called activists. Always used to hate the phrase rent a mob, but it is almost as those they just look up what rallies or demos about going to happen and join in without having the slightest clue as to what anything is really about. And more depressingly dont seem to be interested in finding out. Or should we be glad that at least they are outdoors and not glued to their screens. What a future.

I suspect it would go rather like the interviews Campaign Against Antisemitism did with Uni students at the protest in London on the 4th of November, as covered by the Daily Mail.

"... a women’s rights demonstration in Leeds..."

I don't think I've seen such accuracy by a third party reporting site before. Is this the first time?

Exactly what I thought as soon as I read it. Good journalism.
