Sorry, I can't do a sharetoken at the moment, but this is a comment by Kenny Farquharson in the Times. I don' think he understands the issue.

And surely that claim below is wrong, or is that a different judgment where some judge claimed that sex didn't necessarily mean biological sex?

"Dorrian upheld an earlier judgment that trans women should be treated the same way as biological women under legislation to improve gender balance on the boards of public agencies. She rejected the argument that this was incompatible with the Equality Act in which, she accepted, “sex” meant biological sex."

He's a man. What would you expect?

As a man, my view on the definition of woman is necessarily as an outsider. Having accepted this, I am still entitled to a circumscribed view, which I pose as a question: surely womanhood in all its glory is capacious enough, generous enough, diverse enough, to accommodate and perhaps even to welcome a small number of people who did not start life’s journey as women?

No.

Much as he goes on to talk about the need for safeguarding from predators and compromise from the trans lobby, the identity of women is not up for debate. We have had to fight so, so hard over the centuries for our rights, our freedoms, our safeties and our equality. We are entitled to claim our womanhood for us and us alone.

We don’t need a man to tell us why we should budge up.

It’s basically a verbose and flattering attempt at 'Why can’t you be nice, ladies?' It’s all the argument ever amounts to - we haven’t got room for them elsewhere so budge up, girls, and make room for them in women’s spaces 🤬

and that is where he should have stopped..

I think this already contains an important dollop of fudge - a man sitting nobly and quietly to the side as a tw lectures a woman on how the word woman doesn't have anything to do with being female anymore and going ' oh well this is clearly something for you girls to sort out amongst yourselves' has ALREADY conceded the tw is right and justified in declaring themselves to be a woman.
