I stopped watching Last Week tonight after an appalling episode about trans kids/bathroom bills a few years ago, but dh was watching this latest one about abortion and i couldn't believe my ears...it is actually about women. He says the words woman and mother repeatedly. Amazing

This is what I was getting at. It is so infuriating. Also had a quick look through some of the YT comments and didn't see any rebuking him for his use of clear language about this impacting on women and mothers.

@MathsIs he was discussing the implications of state abortion bans following the Roe v Wade reversal, in light of some upcoming elections including 2024. (I'll be honest, I zoned out for some of it, he's generally not good for my blood pressure)

Noah can be funny when he is NOT doing politics. He has a good ear for other languages and cultural foibles. We had local elections last week and the Democrats did very well on the issue of reproductive rights.

Reviving this old thread as I knew there'd been plenty about him before. Deftly handled by JKR as always, and interesting to see the rhetoric dialled down a notch in Variety.

On X almost all the comments I saw under their post of this story were pro-JKR.

No more than the similar Seth Mayer, who recently complained about the Democrats 'throwing trans people under the bus' in the wake of the Harris defeat.

Their support for abortion rights for women is probably dependent on guaranteed abortion rights for transwomen🙄

John Oliver is one of the good guys. As indeed are Seth Meyers and Jon Stewart. And Colbert.
