I’m on Allison Baileys mailing list and I have received this email from her regarding her latest win against Garden Court. I’ll copy and paste it all as it is well worth a read. Congratulations to Allison and her tenacity in seeing this through. Allison had benefitted us all with this

Hands up anyone here who in need of legal advice/solicitor/barrister would even contemplate ringing Garden Court Chambers!

Don't worry I won't be waiting to count hands! I'll just assume there won't be any raised.

They have shown themselves to be not only incompetent but vindictive which is not a good look!

Yes, WTAF did they think they were doing?

Not to minimise how distressing this must have been for Bailey, this is hilarious. They sued her for a second time, for not accepting their settlement offer?! These people call themselves lawyers, how could they think this would be a good idea...!

I'm firmly of the opinion that they hoped to intimidate her and price her out of an inevitable win, as nothing else makes any sense to me.

murasaki · 06/11/2023 23:32

Yay for Alison.

RayonSunrise · 07/11/2023 05:02

Wonderful news. Allison has been out through the wringer more than most on this, I'm glad she keeps winning and showing this hypocritical ideology for what it is.

EdithStourton · 07/11/2023 07:51

Allison has come out of this looking like an utter star.

Whereas GCC, on the other hand....

Slothtoes · 07/11/2023 07:53

Keep going Allison!

Villagetoraiseachild · 07/11/2023 08:21

Very pleasing!

Ofcourseshecan · 07/11/2023 08:46

Well done, Allison. You should never have been put through this ordeal, but you refused to knuckle under when so many people just give in and obediently mouth the mantras.

You are an inspiration in these weird misogynistic times. Ben too — I’m glad he’s on your side.

Floisme · 07/11/2023 08:49

They did that to her after she'd been with them 19 years.

But I'm not going to waste my time trying to find words to express my opinion of Garden Court.

Allison if you read this, I have so much admiration for you. I've no idea what all this must have cost you - and I don't mean financially - but still you power on. Stonewall next eh? All the very best.

Compare and contrast the GCC responses to AB and to this:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12693483/Law-firm-victimised-lesbian-lawyer-Allison-Bailey-transgender-stance-refuses-condemn-barrister-pro-Hamas-tweets-including-image-terrorists-storming-Israeli-border.html

"In an email - seen by MailOnline - from the law firm's HR department in response to a complaint about the tweets, Garden Court Chambers said it would only investigate complaints about the quality of service.

But less than a year ago the very same chambers was told to pay barrister Allison Bailey £20,000 after a tribunal ruled she had been victimised for her beliefs when she opposed Stonewall's 'trans extremism' in a case in which she received support from JK Rowling."

And the other 2 who've brought opprobrium to them (both still there, is a founder partner).

The rich praise in the first one is just further evidence of how all good institutions, over time, begin to oppose the principles on which they were first founded.

“The panel accept that you came to the Bar at a time when women, ethnic minorities and the LGBT community faced significant hurdles through prejudice and exclusion,” it said.
“It is clear you and other like-minded individuals helped to forge pathways of equality, inclusion and opportunity in the profession for others.
“If the chambers of which you were a founding member was once regarded as radical and non-establishment, it is now revered for its work in human rights, equality and justice. It has in recent years seen numerous appointments to QC and the circuit bench.
“All of that is something to be proud of. Your conduct during the Barkauskas trial is not.”

Separate barrister and incident:

A barrister who described a judge’s summary of a witness’s evidence as “absolute rubbish” and asked if the judge was giving evidence has been suspended for four months.
A Bar disciplinary tribunal said Jacqueline Vallejo adopted “an abrupt, disrespectful and unhelpful tone, attitude and approach” in her dealings with the unnamed judge at Snaresbrook Crown Court back in 2016.

Barrister should have apologised to judge over behaviour

A hugely experienced criminal defence barrister who shouted and pulled faces at a judge should have sent her a letter of apology, a Bar disciplinary tribunal has said.

Gosh, what a warrior queen.
Exhausting and sickening the level of stress these bastards have put her through.
Imagine the countless people crushed by organisations like these who didn't have the money time fortitude to fight their corner. I'm so angry that perverts who want access to women and children have colonised and rotted our society from the inside.and that women who say no are subject to devastating immoral life sucking battles like these with rotten institutions who behave like maggots right to the bitter end rather than behave with honour and leadership and reflect and change.
Utterly disgraceful.

What a warrior queen.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 07/11/2023 09:15

Wow. Surely 'Don't diss the judge' is lesson 1 in barrister training.

The reputational damage GCC have inflicted on themselves is immense. Apart from the unbelievable behaviour of some of their witnesses, their approach to the case provoked much hilarity in certain legal circles.

This is gratifying to hear.

Well done AB.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 07/11/2023 09:30

That Snaresbrook case was massive at the time. She was so rude and offensive, and it just went on and on. Some of the other judges there were wondering if she'd had a breakdown.

Not just Garden Square but Old Court too (BundleJuice’s employer).

Plus anyone involved with Jolyon’s Terrible Team.

pronounsbundlebundle · 07/11/2023 10:22

Hopefully GCC will soon cease to be financially viable. That would be just desserts.

So - according to GCC - actual racism against Jews and hoping terrorists are successful in their mission to kill Jewish civilians (including children) = FINE

Saying there are only two sexes in mammals (which is a fact) and lesbians are allowed to exclude men (bepenised people) from their dating pool = RACISM

Who wants people that misogynistic, anti-semitic and downright deranged to represent you in court?

Old Square chambers, where RMW is a member (not employed, self-employed) is also home to BCKC, so be careful what you wish for 😀

Ha!

(as I pressed ‘post’ I remembered that chambers don’t employ barristers but I couldn’t be arsed to learn about the edit function - I’ve spent the last 6 years making uncorrected mistakes on MN, no need to change it now!)

SinnerBoy · 07/11/2023 12:30

Would it not be absolutely delicious if clients were to engage Alison Bailey and say, "Well, I was directed to GCC, but after doing some research..."

Yep. GCC is not being a great advert for the legal services on offer at GCC.

Did Allison say in her latest update that she has now left the Bar? Her Wikipedia article says she's "retired", too.

MavisMcMinty · 07/11/2023 13:49

Women like Allison Bailey, Maya Forstater and Jo Phoenix are the people I’d call “stunning and brave”. We are so lucky to have them, fighting on our behalf and at great cost to themselves.

I didn't see it in her statement but the Mail link that ResisterRex linked upthread says it:
'Ms Bailey retired from the Bar in March after 22 years, 19 of which were spent at Garden Court.'

I think I read it somewhere else too at the time.
