DEFIANCE

On April the first JKR tweeted
and god how the TRAs bleated.
They whinged and they whined,
they cursed and opined,
as they filed a complaint straight away.

Bet they were pissed off today!

Don't think so. Clearly my 'voice' is quite distinctive! 😶

I've just had a quick flick through both volumes, and admittedly I've read them all more than most but I knew when I was on one of yours, so yes it must be!!

Shall I post it here or put it in storage until there’s a call for a volume 3? Feels a bit like we could be on the crest of a poem writing season, but the truth is I don’t know what to do with it or where to put it 🤣.

Okay. It's in my notes; hang on.

Girl flees:

I’m twelve and feeling frightened
Of what is going to come;
Afraid my breasts are growing,
And a future where I’m scum.

Next year I will start bleeding
From a place I’ve never seen.
I’m scared of feeling dirty;
And I’ve always been so clean.

My sister’s grown her hips now;
Her body’s not like mine.
I don’t want to be curvy;
Being skinny suits me fine.

My mother’s face is weary;
Her views are second best;
My father scorns her input.
I want to stay within my vest.

The boys take all the space up
And see us all as prey;
If I don’t give smiles and giggles
Then they say that I am gay.

I don’t want the pain of childbirth
Or to lose my own career;
Don’t want to have no pension
Cos the father’s pay’s more dear.

I want to walk at nighttime
And know I’m free from harm;
That no one wants to rape me;
To have no cause for alarm.

I don’t want to be looked down on;
Be spoken to like I’m dumb;
Denied another promotion
Because I’m best just being a mum.

I want a place of safety;
One where I’m shown respect.
They say that it’s a man’s world
So what can I expect?

I want to block my sex now.
I want to block the hate.
I want to block my womanhood.
The clinic gave me a date.

This way will be much quicker
As I cannot change the world.
I know about males’ hatred;
I can only be un-girled.

One day there will be fairness.
One day they’ll treat us well.
One day we will be equal.
(Or one cold day in Hell).

Came from wondering if anyone would actually be analysing the reasons for the influx of referrals of girls since they were given this option. Fingers crossed…
