Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Laughed at how the two Bristol lads calmly handled him but thought to myself that if I was to encounter that on the way back from the pub I don’t think I would mentally recover. Also I’m not sure how he would have reacted if two women had discovered him on foot. His behaviour is unacceptable I don’t give a toss what mental health problem he claims to have.

*Not sure if the video is linked in that article but it was in the Telegraph - worth finding and watching

TaytoCheeseandOnion · 28/10/2023 07:59

Love the last line. Time will tell whether he or she will be back.

So, one look at the photo and there is no doubt that is a he. But in the world we live in, it could be a he/he or a she/he. Fantastic illustration of why words having clear unambiguous meanings is important.

FrancescaContini · 28/10/2023 08:00

I saw this yesterday and didn’t understand the “sympathy” comments at all. The mere thought of seeing him while walking home at night is terrifying. He is getting a sexual kick out of scaring people.

itsmyp4rty · 28/10/2023 08:02

I love how at the end it says 'he or she' when we all know the only kind of weirdos that go round frightening people in bondage gear are going to be men.

TheaBrandt · 28/10/2023 08:04

Yeah it’s like flashing. Percentage of flashers being men I would imagine 100%

ThisIsMyGCname · 28/10/2023 08:06

Isn’t flashing a red flag for a ramp
up of deviant behaviour? If you can catch the men at the flashing stage then you could put a stop to the rape and murder of women and children?

Mumteedum · 28/10/2023 08:08

Or she? The guardian can Fxxx off.

AlphaTransWoman · 28/10/2023 08:28

I don't think it it so much a case of "sympathy" as one of offering this type of individual therapy and support in managing their compulsions in a socially acceptable manner. They also need to understand that sanctions will rapidly escalate if they do not control their behaviour.

Carrot and stick, in other words. I think you need both to deliver positive change.

CountryStore · 28/10/2023 08:37

As I read on another thread, sorry can't remember which poster or which thread, a person can be vulnerable and in need of help, and also dangerous to other people, both at the same time

TheOutlaws · 28/10/2023 08:39

@AlphaTransWoman

It’s clear that this person is not getting the help they need.

I was rather objecting to the Guardian’s reporting, which seemed to be a bit heavy on the sympathy angle. It would have been a different story had he frightened an elderly lady to death, for example. Would his proclivities have drawn sympathy in that case?

Fuck that. They don't need therapy and support that's just giving their perversions more attention and air. Don't go out in bondage gear, it's literally no more difficult than that - but they know that full well, they just get their sexual kicks out of frightening women.

PuttingDownRoots · 28/10/2023 08:41

Its not 100% clear .. is this person literally just wandering around in a latex suit?

I get its scary at night, but is it really illegal to that? He's fully dressed...

TheOutlaws · 28/10/2023 08:42

@PuttingDownRoots He ‘liked’ to jump out at cars/people, and writhe around on the ground, speaking in tongues.

OP posts:
TheOutlaws · 28/10/2023 08:44

Had he been an ‘indoor gimp’ (like an indoor cat?), nobody would be any the wiser. You could be sympathetic and say ‘cry for help’, or take the view that he got his sexual kicks from involving innocent bystanders.

Uselessbossnohelp · 28/10/2023 08:44

NC as I live locally to this. Local Facebook groups are not full of sympathy for this man at all! Women & children have been really scared by this guy wondering around, jumping out on people & basically simulating sex with the pavement. This is a rural area and of the main roads, it’s very dark with hardly any streetlights & being small villages, there’s also rarely other people around off the main roads.i know the places this bloke has been jumping out at people. I’d have been absolutely fucking terrified!

quantumbutterfly · 28/10/2023 08:45

What an odd, little man.

FrancescaContini · 28/10/2023 08:47

Mumteedum · 28/10/2023 08:08

Or she? The guardian can Fxxx off.

Quite

PuttingDownRoots · 28/10/2023 08:50

Thank you for extra context, it puts a different spin on just an odd outfit choice!

LadyWithLapdog · 28/10/2023 08:53

He admitted to being the one in May but not to being the Somerset gimp. Which is why he or she (ie the Somerset gimp) is still unknown. My immediate reaction is to say ‘he’, of course.

AlisonDonut · 28/10/2023 09:34

Until they start jailing these fucking weirdos, it will just keep escalating.

So bored with men. Just fuck off.

StellaAndCrow · 28/10/2023 09:42

Thanks for the video mother - very revealing, and makes very clear what we all knew anyway - the penis clutching confirms that it's not a woman.

Catsanfan · 28/10/2023 09:49

He - or she - Jesus wept, if that person is a biological female, please someone hand me my hat and I will fucking eat it

CorruptedCauldron · 28/10/2023 09:53

Clearly a man, and the Guardian know he’s male. They know there’s a chance he may identify as female so they’re falling over themselves to pander to him. Naturally they’ll prioritise the creepy deviant for their sympathies instead of the women who were frightened of him. This sort of behaviour is not a loveable quirk, it’s bloody terrifying and a huge red flag for more serious offending. The Guardian are a joke. What’s that saying again? Being so open-minded that your brain falls out.

megletthesecond · 28/10/2023 09:55

Yes, flashing is a big red flag. Luckily some police do take it seriously. This episode of It's a fair cop is good. Not sure if the link will work as it doesn't paste nicely.
