Green Party Deputy Leader on being 'gender critical'

'The Deputy Leader of the Green Party Zack Polanski also thinks people with gender critical views aren’t welcome in the party. He’s made it clear that “those members who claim that trans women are men and trans men are women – should not have a place in the Greens.”'

Quoting this interview from earlier this year:

https://leftfootforward.org/2023/03/zack-polanski-interview-transphobia-is-not-welcome-in-the-green-party/

'... he says that the small number of members who take a contrary view to the party’s policies on trans rights – specifically those members who claim that trans women are men and trans men are women – should not have a place in the Greens. He says: “I’m really clear that if you want to misgender someone then that is transphobic and transphobia is not welcome in the Green Party.”'

sounds like potential discrimination, to me.

I'd also add that saying a 'small number' of members are 'gender critical' is a deliberate distortion.

It isn’t easy being a gender critical Green | Nathan Williams | The Critic Magazine

This weekend the Green Party is gathering for its Autumn conference in Brighton. Given the increasing urgency of the climate crisis and the appalling record of the current government you might think…

From what I read about the Greens, they seem bigoted and unpleasant

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2023 18:04

They're trying to position themselves as the radical alternative to Labour, to win votes from them:

The article from The Critic says other legal cases, besides Sharar Ali, Emma Bateman and Dawn Furness's are in the pipeline. I had no idea.

Get the popcorn 🍿

There are a lot of good people in the Greens. Committed, thoughtful, hardworking and compassionate.

What is perhaps surprising is how few people it takes to swing an entire political party into the territory of zealous ideology.

YY. Surprising and frightening.

It doesn’t seem to occur to them that by insisting on one scientifically invalid ‘fact’ (however socially and politically trendy it is ) , they might be casting their other ‘scientifically based’ statements into doubt.

Exactly what I thought. Nicely put , thank you.

fabricstash · 07/10/2023 18:18

My local councillors are greens and are incredibly hard working. I know at least one of them is GC. It's frustrating to have this obsession with a non scientific ideology drive decent people away from the party

This is tragic. These are (generally) good people in the Greens. Idealistic, working for a better future yet caught up in an ideology that can only exist if good people suspend their knowledge and morals. Adopting the values of those who dismiss the need to safeguard children & vulnerable women along with the need for a responsible society based on facts and science.

That original #nodebate has done so much harm and it's terrible to watch so many political parties imploding like this.

Some interesting comments on there.

'Starmer is to the right of Theresa May and arguably David Cameron on trans people & LGBTQIA+ rights in general at least.'

'The way in which Labour is chasing transphobia is unlike anything from the start of Cameron's beginnings. It's pretty much mimicking the current iteration of the Tories, who, when Starmer seems to agree with them, do as Zack said and try to go even further to the right. Now we're talking about banning trans people off hospital wards.'

Yes. If anyone wants to find out how to infiltrate and destroy a political party, the Greens will in future provide a salutary example.

Sadly this political movement ends up killing everything it attaches itself to. Words, organisations, services, spaces.

Queer theory in action. Subvert, disrupt, breakdown. I don't know if that's intentional or not.

As I have mentioned before, the green party is big on overpopulation, ( I agree with them - there will be hell to pay in terms of competition for resources if we don't make better choices) - and what better way to decrease the population than by sterilising a whole generation.

  • a reminder that 'gender critical views' are protected in law. You can't discriminate against someone for holding them anymore than you can discriminate against someone for being Christian, Jewish or Muslim.

Jeeze... so scientific fact is now less respected than made up religions. Nuts.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2023 15:56

And also giving the impression that the climate emergency isn't all that urgent as they play identity politics games.

Right?‽‽! 🙈

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2023 15:57

For some in the party, this issue is more important than even fighting climate change. One prominent young member tweeted: “Getting rid of transphobes from the green party is my priority. More than literally anything else…”

Morons.

Never heard of him. NEXT!

WTF?!

I had no idea of Zack Polanski's background.

Of any job, visualising your boobs bigger was genuinely not on any bingo card I might have been able to imagine.

Given that environmental issues have hardly become less significant for society, it’s unbelievably depressing what’s become of the greens.

ArabellaScott · 07/10/2023 19:30

'ZACK POLANSKI SAYS: “The brain is the most complicated computer we know of.
“Our unconscious knows how to run our bodies better than we do. Essentially, I am looking to utilise the unconscious process to make changes to the body.
We don’t exactly know what is changing because of the complexities of the unconscious.
“We do know that whatever is changing is ecological, so if it’s changing one thing – such as the size of a person’s breasts – it’s making sure that the whole system is changing in order to support it.”'

This ... this is not what we meant by 'ecological', Zack. FFS.

But surely you should be able to kick people out of a political party if they don't share the views?

Just like, a religious group should be able to kick someone out if they hold the wrong views on morality or if they're an atheist. Yes that's probably discriminating against a protected philosophical viewpoint, but you need to be able to discriminate in that situation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2023 19:33

Don't forget Zach thought he could hypnotise women to grow their breasts bigger.

Genuinely speechless!
