What you say makes logical sense but don't forget Kier said "it's wrong to say only women have a cervix". I think Labour has realised that some of thier views are batshit crazy and a kryptonite to voters but I believe Labour still believes the crazy even if they are toning things down a bit.

Take the great news on hospital wards no longer being mixed sex for example. It feels like a victory for common sense, but part of me strongly fears that some idiot is going to say "this person has a bit of papaer that says they are female even though they have a cock, so they belong on the female ward".
I hope you're right, but I still don't trust Labour on this, I believe they are still captured. No one has apologised to Rosie Duffield for how she's been treated. There is no genuine clear change of heart in Labour like there was over anti-semitism. To me it seems an exercise in sweeping things under the carpet, out of sight is out of mind.
