I cannot see another thread in FWR, apols if there is.

Apalling example of violence against girls. The limited news coverage suggests her assailant had tried to give her flowers before attacking her.

Not sure what I want from this thread - just mourning a young girl whose future is gone.

It was her friend he stabbed. She stepped in to defend her mate from his unwanted advances and paid the ultimate price.

Comefromaway · 28/09/2023 09:26

There was a thread on it yesterday. It is an absolute tragedy. The attacker was another child whose advances she had rejected. I just don't know what goes though some kids minds.

guinnessguzzler · 28/09/2023 09:34

So desperately sad. Sending love to all her family and friends. It terrifies me that something like this could happen.

Some apology for a minister (one Holden) speaking on Sky has tried to link this to the Mayor concentrating on ULEZ as if any elected politician can foresee any crime on his patch. Apart from the fact there's no link at all, it's disgraceful to try to make a political issue out of this tragedy.

ArabellaScott · 28/09/2023 10:20

Just unbearably sad.

DialSquare · 28/09/2023 10:30

Heartbreaking. That poor girl. And all because a Male could not be told no.

Villagetoraiseachild · 28/09/2023 10:33

There are not words for this.
May this dear brave girl rest in peace and her parents find strength and courage.

It's not just kids is it? Entitled males of all ages react violently to being turned down.

nettie434 · 28/09/2023 10:40

It's so incredibly sad. The girl was amazingly brave too.

RaininSummer · 28/09/2023 10:41

Absolutely horrifying. Terrified for my daughters and granddaughters in this wicked world.

Yep, there are people in the thread on the main Chat board also trying to link it to ULEZ. It's bizarre. Anything to shoehorn their particular bugbear in.

Good grief. Some people sre completely lacking in compassion.

RIP this poor, brave girl.

Awful and horrifying, may she rest in peace. I feel for her parents and those close to her.

I hope the murderer spends the rest of his life in prison.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 28/09/2023 11:23

It’s so sad and especially as she wasn’t the main target but just trying to help her friend.

Yes

JayAlfredPrufrock · 28/09/2023 11:25

I hadn’t read that she was defending her friend from unwanted advances.

I just can’t get over a boy carrying a bunch of flowers and a long knife.

RIP Eliyanna

Comefromaway · 28/09/2023 11:26

The girl has been named. Her poor, poor family and I also feel for the friend who will undoubtedly be feeling survivor guilt. She had her whole life ahead of her.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/09/2023 11:28

Children killing children. That the knife was there makes it seem premeditated too. She was a brave and beautiful child. This shouldn't be happening, all I have is words and they're small comfort.

RavingStone · 28/09/2023 11:33

I want the news to explicitly link this shit to misogyny.

When several gay men were attacked in South London recently it's just "homophobic motivation". There's going to be a backstory for that attacker too - that's just humans - but it's recognised that describing whatever it was about the gay men that so provoked the attacker would be offensive and victim blaming.

Why for this girl is the report not "misogynist motivation"? Currently the backstory makes the murder seem like a grim but understandable punchline to an age old story.

DialSquare · 28/09/2023 11:34

Just reading her story has made me well up. She wanted to be lawyer. RIP Eliyanna.

plinkyplonkyploo · 28/09/2023 11:37

RIP Eliyanna. Heartbreaking.

puffyisgood · 28/09/2023 11:41

this one is too depressing for me to really contemplate too heavily.

Yes, I agree.

I don’t understand why the BBC News yesterday evening felt it necessary to say Eliyanna (although she hadn’t been named at this point) was a “private school girl”. What relevance was that?

Absolutely heartbreaking 💔

Sunnava · 28/09/2023 14:40

May she rest in power, brave young soul. How devastating. Misogyny in action.
