I really hope that the people of Canada keep pushing back until women & children's rights are considered as important as the rights of males.

There has been a collective loss of mind in Northern America, truly scary to witness and undoubtedly even worse to experience first hand.

MapleTerfLady · 20/09/2023 22:11

@Pixiedust1234

2S stands for two spirit. This is for Canadian aboriginal peoples as historically they have had people identify as having two spirits inside of them. One boy and one girl? Please correct me if I got that wrong but that was my best understanding of it.

It was heartening to see. It is a false equivalency to say it is like coming out when you are gay, because if a kid tells you they are same sex attracted there is nothing to be said or done. In the case however of a kid coming out transgender, there is a 9 page protocol for Halton, my area, about how to change the child's name in school documentation without informing the parents, how they will be able to share dorms on school trips with whatever sex they feel comfortable in and that they can use gender affirming bathrooms and sports teams. No consultation or consideration for the females.

Secondly, one of the statistics from Hannah Barnes' book was that there was a 70% chance of 5 other co-morbidities like eating disorders and suicide attempts. Not only are teachers not qualified to go straight into a gender affirming approach it's a safeguarding disaster if they are so much more likely to have other MH concerns. It's also a safeguarding nightmare for the other kids and to alter documentation when prescription medication like epipens would be in the so-called "deadname" I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

I see Jagmeet Singh chose the dumpster fire of siding with the Unions against parents over the dumpster fire of Trudeau's announcement yesterday about the Indian government, he needs to grow a spine.

Pixiedust1234 · 20/09/2023 22:29

Ah thank you. According to the link it's a recently made up word by conference goers which makesme wonder if it similar to the UK population using the word BAME, ie politicians, HR and do-gooders who love using it but the people who are part of that word hate the forced phrase.

Will be interesting to see if the main newspapers over there write sympatheticly for the marchers over the next few days and don't just denounce them all as meany transphobes.

Toseland · 20/09/2023 23:26

#1MillionMarch4Children
I've been watching snippets all afternoon - it's absolutely massive - I've never seen such a mass uprising!
It's not being reported by the media, and the few news reports I found were heavily biased.

Witchofthekitchen · 20/09/2023 23:30

Most of the media coverage I’ve seen about it here in Canada has been written with a strong ‘meanie bigots marching against trans people’ slant, complete with photos that show a deceptively small crowd (taken after most people had left) or just plain focusing on the counter protesters. I haven’t seen a single honest article about it yet.

Witchofthekitchen · 20/09/2023 23:38

Our politicians have also been disappointing (predictably so) with Singh (NDP) openly siding with the counter protestors and Trudeau delivering his usual Twitter lecture which mostly consists of calling everyone names again, while Pierre Poilievre (conservatives) has yet to figure out if he wants to come out from under his rock and pick a side. Unless one or more of our so-called leaders can grow a spine, and/or our media suddenly remembers where they buried their integrity, I’m not sure that this is really going to change anything.

Rudderneck · 20/09/2023 23:58

Yeah, I guess this is in some ways positive, but the way the media is approaching it is going to entrench people more.

It's almost exclusively being spun as an anti-gay rally. Even though the group coordinating it has been mainly focusing on schools and library materials.

Unfortunatly their messaging has also been kind of confused. There will be people who agree with the main message who don't feel they need to be careful because of some of the demands the group is making.

But the numbers are kind of astonishing.

Onesailwait · 21/09/2023 00:08

I was down at the protest in Victoria today. Started off ok but things were getting pretty heated by the time I had to go back to work. There was a big crowd, and it felt like a 1st step in slowing down this absolute shot show going in, especially in our high schools. My daughter was dismissed from her socials class just before the summer break for speaking up and questioning a teacher who was saying it should be considered an act of abuse to assign a babies gender whilst still in the womb. I have a long awaited meet with the principal on Friday. I can't wait to see what he has to say.

Onesailwait · 21/09/2023 00:12

My daughter & a bunch of friends were planning to bus downtown after school, but Vic PD issued a statement that it's now 'unsafe' and are asking people to stay away.

Imnobody4 · 21/09/2023 00:31

Meghan has tweeted
The trans activist terrorists won. They rushed the stage and the cops had to shut down the entire event half way through my speech because it was too dangerous for us to continue. #1MillionMarch4Chidren

Here’s the clip from the TRA rushing the stage. I kinda feel like that cop just wanted to stop you all from speaking. Maybe I’m wrong…

Thousands of people marched across Canada, shouting "Leave our kids Alone". Pierre Poilievre peeked out from under his rock (before the march) to say he didn't know much about the march, but he supports parental rights. The government bought and paid for legacy media actually covered it although slanted (baby steps). Fortunately nobody pays attention to them anymore.

However this ideology has infested all levels of government, education and healthcare. It will take a herculean effort to root it out.

Datun · 21/09/2023 01:26

ArabeIIaScott · 20/09/2023 21:45

Bloody hell, it really is.

Last time I looked, it was all Jessica Yaniv getting away with it, and Mr giant boobs taking the piss, with the entire media not reporting on any of it.

That's very powerful stuff, right there. Parents will not stand by and watch their children targeted and medicated out of their adulthood.

Rudderneck · 21/09/2023 01:40

It's so, so polarized though.

I was at work today and someone there refered to it as a "hate group protest" and really had no idea what they were about. The National Post was pretty accurate, but CBC and CTV called them "anti-lbg++++++ protests".

And lots and lots of regular people watch ctv and cbc.

Toseland · 21/09/2023 01:42

For everyone that attended, they now know they are not alone or even in the minority - they are in fact are one of the majority.
Shame on Justin Trudeau and all of the teachers and politicians pushing this disgusting agenda.

I think you're spot on. The charm has been broken.

A father describes why he participated in the #1MillionMarch4Children in Toronto:

"Look how many skin colours, religions, look how many people are united. Why? Because we have one thing in common and that's our children. Nobody will ever back down from their children."

That crowd in Ottawa was HUGE though. And a really mixed group too.

One of the things that strikes me is that a lot of progressives here really do believe that all of this is an up-welling of hatred against gay and lesbian people.

Now, to me, this is an incredible theory. Yes, there are people who are asses, and yes, some people are more conservative about sexual questions, and yes, some kids will use any opportunity to torment other kids.

But the vast majority of people are liberal about sexuality, and even most more conservative are very accommodating of different viewpoints. I'd go so far as to say that having very conservative views on sexuality would make you more of a social pariah than being gay or lesbian.

I find myself wondering, don't people even question why so many people have suddenly, apparently, changed their mind on these things? To the point where they are marching in the streets?

Delphinium20 · 21/09/2023 04:00

I am absolutely incensed at the misrepresentation or lack of media coverage. I live in a US border state and can pick up Canadian public radio and there is no local coverage of this event! We cover our neighboring Canadian news like pumpkin festivals, weather etc stories all the time... but not this?!?

Bosky · 21/09/2023 04:04

There was a worrying jumbling of issues here by Kamel El-Cheikh - interviewed about the march before it happened.

Interesting - and good - that the March name was not "Million Man" but "1 Million March for Children"! Was Kamel really the organiser?

Going by what I saw on twitter, there was a visible muslim presence in the March in Ottawa but it was by no means a majority. I saw xtian placards too. The size of crowds was astonishing. This is a marked departure from the lonely protests of GC women. A turning point for North America.

mirax · 21/09/2023 07:58

The media is a big part of why we are where we are.

Datun · 21/09/2023 08:51

There are, obviously, going to be lots of reasons why people objected to the type of sex education their children are getting, alongside the gender indoctrination.

and people will have different motivation.

The good thing about all this, is that there are so many people, it will have to be addressed. Votes will be in the offing.

Yes but clearly plenty of people are aware of the media bias.

It doesn't work for people to shout 'fascist' at you if you're not. You might briefly be gaslit into thinking you've suddenly become accidentally a bad person, but the numbers there show that enough people have seen enough to know that its a lie.

Worth noting that is not the usual protest crowd? Lots of families. Lots of diversity. Lots of people that feel compelled very strongly to speak up.

If I was a politician who was trying to sell bullshit I'd be bloody worried right now.

Thank you for being there. I am shocked to see the footage. It must have been very concerning to have trans rights extreme activists getting through.
