Irish cancer charity's bizarre campaign "it's not just men over 40 should be aware of prostate cancer"

No-one should begrudge a cancer charity making sure that trans people are fully aware of cancers that may affect them, regardless of how they identify.

This passage is utter genderwoo on steroids:

"Denise is no ordinary woman. She has a trans history. What that means is that when she was born, doctors thought she was male. They were wrong. After many years of depression and struggling, Denise began her social and medical transition in her late thirties. She made her legal transition when the Gender Recognition Act came into law in Ireland in 2015 and completed her medical transition a few years later.

Having been assigned male at birth and despite surgery to correct that error, Denise has a prostate. Most transgender women do, as do some intersex and non-binary people. That’s ok. Nature is weird and wonderful sometimes. It is infinite in its diversity and combinations."

(This isn't a case of doctors struggling with to diagnose a DSD, this is just a male person who chose to have some cosmetic surgeries.)

A fucking cancer charity stating that doctors correctly identifying a male baby made a "mistake" that needed "correcting". Terrifying.

Jaysus. That is bad.

What a lot of nonsense!

Couldn't they just say: if you were born with a prostate gland, remember to get checked regularly.
No need to go on and on about genders and such bollocks.

Up to individuals to admit they actually have this gland and it's their personal responsibility to get themselves checked.

Circumferences · 18/09/2023 13:55

Total gobbledegook.

plumtreebroke · 18/09/2023 13:58

Maybe she was born intersex and it was a decision that she was more male than female, that could have been a mistake.

If she was born fully male by examination that was not a mistake, no one could read a new born's mind and say ah, but he will grow up to decide he's a girl..

ChishiyaBat · 18/09/2023 13:58

Surgery to correct that error? Damn the whole thing is horrifying!

Igneococcus · 18/09/2023 14:00

It actually isn't, or natural selection wouldn't be a thing,

CorruptedCauldron · 18/09/2023 14:00

Denise was correctly recorded at birth as being a member of the male sex class. Babies don’t have a gender identity. Doctors didn’t make a mistake. Denise doesn’t have a trans history. Denise has a trans present. For as long as Denise identifies as female, Denise is a transgender person.

Women get erased from information about our specific healthcare needs. Menopause, maternity etc. Note that men don’t get erased when it comes to their healthcare - it’s still all about the menfolk, in addition to other people who were ‘mistakenly’ assigned male at birth.

Denise has a prostate. So there is no question that Denise has a DSD. This is just about affirming Denise's womanhood, despite Densie being a bio male.

But the article clearly says "trans history" not DSD or 'intersex' history.

Gah, this line ...

"Through supporting programmes such as Blue September, Denise hopes that all transgender, intersex and non-binary people will consider getting a PSA test and also that the medical profession will educate themselves beyond the simple binary."

What, ALL transgender, intersex and non-binary people???

I'm not sure it's nature that's being weird and wonderful...

This garbage is certainly weird. It's assuredly not wonderful.

Roundaboot · 18/09/2023 14:37

"Having been assigned male at birth... Denise has a prostate."

As though the doctor says "congratulations, it's a boy!" and whoosh, a prostate magically comes into being! Rather than the more mundane truth, that Denise was born with a prostate because Denise is male.

Well no not all transgender, intersex and non-binary people, just that ones that matter, i.e. the male ones. I doubt they're expecting an influx of transmen. The misogyny of this movement and its enablers gets more blatant by the week.

And no, the medical profession do not need to 'educate themselves beyond the simple binary' because the simple binary is literally all there is!!! All that's beyond it is fucking wish fulfillment and fairytales. FFS.

Wonderful as in makes you seriously wonder, rather than the modern sense of the word!

TheFirstStraw · 18/09/2023 14:47

How strange. You'd think if it was an error that Denise was assigned male at birth, it would just be a matter of relabelling her female once the error was discovered. Why would Denise need surgery, I wonder?

If he was born with a DSD and a prostate then his DSD was one that only occurs in males. He was born male, remains male.

comfyoldcardi · 18/09/2023 14:52

What a load of nonsense.

Kilopascal · 18/09/2023 14:53

I think that shortens to
'Denise is no woman. She has a trans history. What that means is that she was born male. After many years of depression and struggling, Denise began her social and medical transition in her late thirties.
Being male, despite surgery, Denise has a prostate.'

ImFineThankYouSusan · 18/09/2023 15:26

Gosh darn those medical professionals, they can be so silly some times. Not knowing what a male or female is... At least those same professionals know though, despite being oh so wrong, they are right you have a prostate. Funny that.

Is there something in the water? Is it plastics? Here we are, the species with the most powerful brains ever known, and yet millions of humans have just lost or never acquired the skill of thinking logically and critically about things. Nobody who is actually using their brains properly could believe this nonsense. Why are they going along with it?

Igneococcus · 18/09/2023 15:47

That's possible @off it sounds like it could be, I'm not a trekkie.

It's just completely lacking any understanding how evolution works.

Boggling, isn't it? This is a cancer charity. If it's anything like the ones in the UK, it should have medical professionals and communicators involved in crafting messaging for different groups. This article seems to have been written by someone with rainbow crayons and no brains.
