“I recognise that they are offensive to the transgender community and I am deeply sorry for the hurt caused by this.
“I am committed to undergoing training to better understand the lived experiences of transgender people and with the aim of becoming a good trans ally.”'

But it let's us know what Labour's stance is: women and children are of no account; LGBT shall be exalted above them all.
Training camps now; hard labour in the gulag next. Just wait till Labour and flip-'flop Starmer get in.

Izzard’s been campaigning in Brighton that Labour have sorted out their position on Women. He’s not wrong.

Obvs also see Mr Khan of London as another example of Labour’s position on women.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/09/2023 23:21

The statement is fucking chilling.

MavisMcMinty · 12/09/2023 23:30

Datun · 13/09/2023 05:49

Her beliefs are legally protected. She cant be forced to apologise or removed from lead roles. It's discriminatory.

what am I missing?

TodayInahurry · 13/09/2023 06:36

And people on here support Labour, and the Lib Dem’s are as bad? Tell everyone of them when they come knocking for your votes what you think.

I asked a Lb Dem the ‘what is a woman’ question when he came after our vote and he did I not like it.

EasternStandard · 13/09/2023 06:38

Brighton of course has a trans councillor: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0g5h4xs (not sure why he was chosen for this programme as he only got elected in May this year, but it's the first thing that came up)

Constituents could always contact him if they felt too uncomfortable to contact a female councillor who believes in biology.

Cllr Raphael Hill, Green Party councillor.

I've just listened to that piece. It's 4 mins 44 secs long and I'd recommend you have a listen too.

What a political titan Raphael is. And he says a lot. Guinea pigs, queer spaces, sensory issues, a life changing leaky tap, becoming trans AFTER advocating for trans rights, partner also transitioning. It's all there in less than five minutes! Flipping 'ell...

I bet him feeling 'unsafe' is another reason the Labour councillor is being pushed to repent and leave.

Fgs every ward has three councillors so residents can always contact any or all or them as they prefer. Or any of the Cabinet Members about a particular portfolio issue. Or the Leader. Or a senior council officer.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 13/09/2023 21:42

In news that will surprise nobody, Greens are queuing up to denounce her and call for her ritual sacking and shaming.

They want to vilify and punish a woman for defending our rights to our privacy, our identity and our right to safety for ourselves and our children.

Shameful.

I think the argument is that her legally held beliefs might be ... contagious?

This is direct discrimination, isn't it?

Datun, sorry, that's what you said yesterday but I didn't register it at the time!

They've removed her from her role because of her legally held beliefs, which are WORIADS.

So Brighton isn't a safe space for women. OK. I understand and will stay away.

nibblemonster · 13/09/2023 22:18

@ArabeIIaScott sorry if I am being dumb but what does "WORIADS" mean?

Also, does she have a legal case against them in any way? I assume the Labour party rules are tightly stitched up so they can dismiss for not aligning with the overall values or something.

ArabeIIaScott · 13/09/2023 22:22

Worth of Respect in a Democratic Society. Her 'gender critical' beliefs are protected under the Equality Act. She can't be discriminated against for holding them.

I'm not a lawyer, but sacking someone for having 'gender critical' beliefs seems like direct discrimination to me.

Exactly. She may not want to sue them tho.
