I can't tell you how angry and upset this has made me, my ex used to pressure me to lend him increasing sums of money and take out loans. He carried on doing that for over a decade after we split. He did it while I was very ill, he did it when he knew I had been awarded high rate DLA and mobility.

The very term 'veto' infuriates me, implying as it does a form of controlling behaviour on the part of the spouse who couldn't stop the transition if they wanted to. By the same token, it's apparently fine to recategorize a heterosexual woman into a lesbian if it fits a man's ideas of himself. Validation above all, no matter what effects it has on any children, has been a recurring news theme this week.

Any woman has an absolute right to decide she didn't enter the marriage on these terms and is therefore not prepared to continue it. This doesn't need permission. One party in any marriage can end it for whatever reason they choose.

The only background Cook has in diversity is in their previous role at a tiny football club called Whitehawk FC. Cook was a photographer before that running up nearly £100k of debt before going bankrupt.

No HR experience, no degree, no relevant skills and experience. In fact the only things Cook appears to bring to the role is transitioning at the age of 48.
