The review aims to challenge the failure of the NHS to provide appropriate treatment and safeguards for adults suffering from gender dysphoria.

I really hope that this gains traction and can bring better standards of care in England and the clinic in Scotland where Ritchie was (mis)treated.

I'm really interested in this, Ritchie has been treated appaulingly and someone needs to acknowledge the failures in care to ensure they are remedied.

I generally don't support suing the NHS since it will just remove money from the system but I understand it is the only thing that works these days.

I really don't see how health professionals can win though. Will someone who believes they are trans engage in therapy where there is a suggestion they are not actually trans? I doubt it. It is only after getting what they ask for and finding it does not fix their problems that they think trans is not the issue.

Better to change society to accept that anyone can present as they wish without having to change their gender/body.

I haven't really read much about this, but wasn't the issue in the Bell appeal that the CA did not think JR was the right way to go about challenging this stuff - essentially ended up saying, if the individual treatment was wrong, that's on the doctors. Seems similar.

His doctor is dead.

He was also told he couldn't have any more therapy unless he went through with the surgery. It needs a judicial review because was that NHS policy? Or was that an individual clinic or clinician's decision to make?

Agree with this, would Ritchie.have also sued for not being given the surgery?

From what he himself has described, that's unlikely (he says he repeatedly expressed doubts). But that may not be all that happened at the time, and he may well have swung wildly between opposing views. It can be very hard to recall things accurately from a time of great stress.

Ritchie was 'transitioned' through Sandyford, the same place as Sinead Watson, it does seem to be very pro transition and as Kiera Bell did for the Tavistock then hopefully Richie will move the dial on Sandyford.

That’s not true. Ritchie is from the north of England. He received a diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a private clinic in Scotland after finding the waiting list so long in England, but his NHS care was in England and this case has nothing to do with Sandyford- he is seeking (along with a father of a 21 year old) a review of the standards used by the adult clinics in England.
