Whistleblowers at EHRC say that Kishwer Falkner is the victim of a 'witch-hunt by trans lobby'

Relations are said to have soured after she backed legal reforms guarding the rights of biological women in single-sex spaces such as hospital wards and toilets.

The employees at the Equality and Human Rights Commission are said to have compiled a dossier, setting out more than 40 complaints aimed at Baroness Falkner by a dozen current and former colleagues. A source said: 'People within the organisation are deeply concerned that this is a witch-hunt.

'The timing is extremely questionable. There is no doubt in my mind that this is ideologically motivated and is a way to take a scalp in revenge. ...

Baroness Falkner is said to have been left 'heartbroken' by the allegations but those close to her said her 'conscience was clear'. They branded the move by EHRC staff a 'failed coup d'etat'.

Members of the commission's board, which is headed by Baroness Falkner, have called for an overhaul of the 2010 Equality Act, which refers to gender and sex interchangeably.

They argue it should be amended to explicitly define sex as 'biological sex' to bring legal clarity in areas including sport and ensure only 'biological women' can use single-sex spaces.

Staff from the executive team were said to having been pushing to allow for gender self-identification, allowing trans people to state their chosen gender without any medical diagnosis.

A second source said: 'The executive just refused to accept the board's decision. There were strenuous efforts to reject it and it was around this time allegations were starting to be made.

'There is a very progressive, activist-inclined staff who are influenced by organisations and groups like Stonewall.'

The source said senior executives had grown accustomed to calling the shots at the commission but this changed when Baroness Falkner took over to provide 'real leadership'.

They said the complaints felt like a move to 'get her', adding: 'This process of finding fault with Kishwer is clearly political.' The dossier is said to have made claims of discrimination, including transphobia, bullying and harassment. ...

Remember the intern who doxxed posters from this board & shared information publicly that could identify them? All because she was unhappy with their defence of women's rights and child safeguarding which she thought was transphobic

It is always women’s rights that are so willingly removed for the benefit of men including by women. That combination of sanctimonious moral righteousness and power is so appealing and readily blinds the religious convert to any logical reasoning. I know this firsthand from discussions in my own family.

Frankly, it’s frightening how willing that young (women) are ferociously and adamantly zealous in their dismantling of single sex protection for vulnerable women in prisons, in refuges, in hospitals and rape relief centres. Moreover, calm logical reasoning is always met with anger.

Response from Marcial Boo to Channel 4 programme and media speculation from EHRC

'“We are disappointed with ongoing media reporting concerning an internal investigation.'

It's good - measured but not caving in to the bullshit.

I feel very sorry the Baroness has been placed in this position (and forced to spend £££ to defend herself).

However, from what's been disclosed this may be a good thing and serve to cement her position.

The claims being made against her that have been reported are churlish, childish and even contradictory.

Due process has not been followed. Issues were not raised at the time nor was an internal investigation held.

They waited and waited to build a dossier of complaints then went to a KC enquiry costing over £100k.

I think regardless of the outcome of findings against Faulkner, the actions of the Executive warrant investigation in this regard.

If cleared (and I think she will be) it will be interesting to sue if she is able to take action against those working against her on the grounds of politically motivated bullying/harassment and unprofessional conduct that resulted in taxpayer funds being utilised when due process might have avoided this.

Personally I think some activities are so used to getting their own way through intimidation they are blindsided when people push back and say, NO.

They are used to working in the shadows and silencing people but when that push back happens in the public domain their actions come under scrutiny and it's not a good look.

I'll bet good money they thought Faulkner would back down, back off and resign when faced with a KC investigation and having to pay personally to defend herself.

They underestimated her and I think they've ultimately left themselves very exposed.

We all have protected characteristics. All of us, because we are born humans

Exactly. We all have a sex, an age, a race, a sexuality, many of us have protected beliefs, have been pregnant, etc etc.

Nokes is a total idiot. How did she get that role and can we lobby to get her out, given how manifestly biased she is in a role which should be balanced?

On the matter of cost from the Telegraph

*"An employment barrister, Gavin Mansfield KC, of Littleton Chambers, has been drafted in to investigate the 40 complaints, in an investigation costing taxpayers £100,000. Lady Falkner is having to pay tens of thousands of pounds from her own pocket for lawyers to defend herself."^

That is dreadful. I wonder if she needs help for the costs of her defence?

I wonder this. I'd donate

Needmoresleep · 24/05/2023 14:49

The financial cost is totally shocking. I hope that some of the sensible women in the House of Lords (with various political backgrounds will help rally support. If Baroness Falkner is bullied out, there is no hope.

In terms of Caroline Noakes, we need people within her constituency (Romsey and Southampton North) to join their local Conservative Association and attend the AGM and ask questions.

Local Conservative Associations are often pretty hollowed out and it is common that members are well to the right of their MP. The MP needs to keep them on board first to help with canvassing in a General Election which coukd be any time from now to Nov 2024. But also to reconfirm their selection. Her stance on women is a vote loser and out of line with Rishi, Kemi, Liz, Boris and more. The bullying of Baroness Falkner has resonance within Local Associations who perceive similar bullying allegations by Civil Servants against quite a number of senior Tories, as being politically motivated.

So turn up bright eyed and seemingly enthusiastic to deliver leaflets (I recommend postie-mate to deal with awkward letter boxes) and put her on the spot.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of large bottles of piss being delivered bundles and bundles of thank you cards were sent to...

Not sure why it didn't post but just to make the point:

Most of the Telegraph quotes are in fact taken from the news articles I posted the links for last night.

And I also posted the link to the statement from the EHRC last night.

So not much new info since last night.

Agree. This looks like it might backfire spectacularly.

It's good when people who are used to manipulation, tantrums and threats find that their behaviour is not actually going to get them what they want anymore.

IwantToRetire · 24/05/2023 16:37

However on a more positive note I was really concerned to hear on Radio 4 news at 1pm the interview with Lisa Power who just went on about a Gvoernment plot to undermine poor hard done by trans people.

So was trying to make notes for a complaint when the presneter introduced Ian Acheson, who was the chief operating officer of the EHRC from 2012 to 2015 (see post from 00:15 today) who was really good. (Made the staff sound like the entitled students the Oxford feminist wrote about anonymously in the Telegrpah) .

But ... whether to the average listener any of this will make sense, or they even think it is important, is another question.

As said up thread this is just such a huge concern about how impartiatliy (as much as this is possible) is no longer seen to be part of doing a job.

And in this instance I think generally the view of the Tory administration is so low, that many people will accept the arguement that the Tories have placed someone in the EHRC to force through Government policy, and this will just add to the "be kind" position bolstered by the perception of the Tories as uncaring, mean spirited monsters that are robbing us of our human rights.

I am not sure this is going to end well.

Thank you, BreadlnCaptivity, I have just listened.

The first person who spoke about the ‘moral panic’ about trans people who have been here for so long, nothing is actually different, there are only a very few taking sports prizes etc, and now they are having their fights rolled back, was so misleading.

IwantToRetire · 24/05/2023 17:12

Lisa Power has been one of the most dangerous campaigners against women's rights in pursuit of trans rights.

Her whole failure to mention in the BBC interview anyting about women makes clear what her agenda is.

https://www.itv.com/news/wales/2022-02-08/the-personal-is-political-stonewall-co-founder-lisa-power-on-being-an-activist

Thanks goodnes there was a man willing to speak up for women's sex based rights.

Baroness Faulkner does have a twitter account where she is being mocked for posting about equal rights as she is "against trans rights"

@ EHRCChair (Please remove space - only there because mumsnet automaticly checks any @ name to see if they are a registered member and if not wont allow you to post!!??)

In a way it is a sign on the times that the BBC had to get a representative from the "2 sides" of the arguement.

But in fact the issue should have been, irrespective of the issue the EHRC are discussing are they able to do this with full impartiality.

it just shows how far the establishment has been captured for some years that any attempt at impartiality is immediately met with angry claims of bias ie if those participating aren't saying trans issues take primacy, then it is biased.

Slothtoes · 24/05/2023 17:53

Great statement by Marcia Boo.

Also this is such bullshit: staff fear the EHRC is no longer independent and has colluded with the Government to undermine trans rights

Undermine trans rights? How? The Tories since 2013 have done nothing but provide trans people with extra additional ‘rights’. The Tories wanted to bring in self ID, and they ignored women’s concerns about that, until they realised it was more widely unpopular.

Then instead the Tories brought in the loss-leading £5 GRC, to allow legally changing sex to happen even more cheaply.

While at the same time requiring families to pay thousands of ££££ for the paperwork to say, allow them to stay legally in the UK and work for the NHS. And apparently, with the Home Office making a 5x profit on their processing costs of handling those visa applications.

Slothtoes · 24/05/2023 17:57

Let’s see what the outcome of the investigations at the EHRC bring out, but I would imagine that this is what reversing organisational capture looks like.

GailBlancheViola · 24/05/2023 18:17

I agree @Slothtoes .

It is interesting how many of the women being attacked by the extreme Gender Ideology activists are women of colour, I would bet that the majority, if not all, the complainants are white. Not only is this TRA agenda deeply misogynistic it has a distinct whiff of racism about it.

IwantToRetire · 24/05/2023 18:25

this is what reversing organisational capture looks like

Well let's hope that the reversing does happen and holds.

Christ, it can't be only me who would like to see these people in a room, pick up a microphone and explain themselves. While other people then get to pick up the same microphone, to respond to what they're saying.

We know that challenge to the ideology makes it disappear in a puff of smoke.

I've just sent a thank you card to Baroness Falkner.

However strong willed and determined the woman is, seeing the support she has will go a long way to strengthening her resolve.

And it's not just that. I want her to know how bloody grateful women are.

She is in the spotlight, because other women can't be.

Shelefttheweb · 24/05/2023 19:34

staff fear the EHRC is no longer independent and has colluded with the Government to undermine trans rights

It is far less of an issue ‘colluding with government’ who have been elected and and can be elected out, that it is colluding with activists.
