Chris in Dublin.
It seems like people in the Disney store were 'offended'.

That's very interesting. Chris wasn't having any of it.

Also he said that about three people disagreed with him, but at least 100 had agreed. And certainly, judging by the footage, people are spontaneously coming up and telling him he was right.

Good to see. He's taken a lot of shit, that man

NicCageisnotNickCave · 20/05/2023 21:22

Yes!

She recently spent a whole segment on Piers Morgan’s programme telling other panellists to be quiet and let her speak but not actually saying anything much at all.

Morgan gently ribs her by pointing out they have the same privileged background/education and asking her who her ‘community’ actual consists of (other privileged students, basically).

Good grief, what an insufferable and self-centred young woman!

FrancescaContini · 21/05/2023 07:33

If the young people in the video are students at Oxford then the chances are that they are possibly very privileged people and yet they seem so…miserable.

Crucially, though, they don’t seem to have the capacity for critical thinking - surprising, given the entrance requirements for Oxford.

FrancescaContini · 21/05/2023 07:59

Oh dear. Riz can’t support her argument without referring to notes, and she can’t “square” her own enormous privilege with wanting to rid the UK of other excessively privileged people 🤦‍♀️

fabricstash · 21/05/2023 08:07

This is quite a long video by a women with billboard chris on Gratton street but shows how much some young people are captured

The Guard in the Irish clip made a proper dick of himself

PriOn1 · 21/05/2023 08:22

The Oxford policeman is great. That is exactly what should have been done, right back when protest was beginning.

Not reacting or correcting minor infractions has resulted in escalation.

And Riz on Piers Morgan’s show actually made me feel more protective of the royals. That kind of arrogant, hyper-privileged activism, with its utter incomprehension about what really matters, or the difficulties faced by the majority of the population, is utterly enraging!

WickedSerious · 21/05/2023 08:50

FrancescaContini · 20/05/2023 22:31

I wonder that too.

This must be one of the few police officers who actually has a brain - but why doesn’t he ask the blue mask individual to reveal his/her face?

Exactly what my partner said when I showed him the footage.

Yes, agree especially wrt the police’s role.

I would love to know a bit more about Riz’s “community”. I’d bet a bottle of Bolly that she’s not referring to the people who live in Blackbird Leys.

As far as I can tell her ‘community’ is posh people who stand on tube trains, posh people who throw soup, posh people who throw eggs at the king, non binary mayors, kids who larp as AntiFa and young adults who have damaged their endocrine systems by taking cross sex hormones bought online.

Will probably scrape a 2.1 and get a job as a Lib Dem SPAD via family connections.

I'd venture that a lot of them cut their own hair in the dark too.

nilsmousehammer · 21/05/2023 10:13

Possible PhD in there to look into posh kids with throwing schemas lasting to the university years.

I just posted some links re: Doomerism and suicide on another thread.

These young, privileged activists (who are essentially the same people across various issues) are themselves contributing to the downward spiral in teen and adolescent mental health that they ’Boomers’ for

eg Greta Turnberg has frightened countless primary school kids to the point of tears, including my own kids - how does that help them grow up to be healthy, well educated adults capable of solving humanitarian and ecological issues via science and innovation?

Answer: it doesn’t.

Article on a recent suicide in Brighton, horrifically and horribly sad - whatserface upthread has privilege to cushion her from the relentless doom mongering about trans genocide and human extinction but the working and middle class state kids and first/second generation immigrant peers they influence don’t have a mater and pater able to intervene with a well timed family holiday let alone a private stay at the priory…

https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/23450878.amp/

Current Left wing activism is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in reverse, it makes people feel paralysed and hopeless and not in control of their own destiny.

FrancescaContini · 21/05/2023 12:48

@NicCageisnotNickCave
Very interesting point, thank you. Very sad to hear about the young man in Brighton. He probably had a bright future ahead of him.

Mytholmroyd · 21/05/2023 16:05

Yes that is interesting @NicCageisnotNickCave . I agree the joy has gone out of a lot of young people - not all - and thankfully mine are all currently fine with their heads screwed on - but a significant number. It's very sad. Bordering on tragic tbf.

But yes, these privately educated trust fund kids can just walk away to fancy holidays, big homes and secured jobs so risk nothing.

The interview with PM was hilarious - definitely didn't want to justify or talk about her expensive public school education! 😂

Norma27 · 21/05/2023 17:27

Billboard Chris will be on Andrew Doyle’s show tonight on GB News.

WeeBisom · 21/05/2023 17:57

I wonder if part of what is going on here is arrested development and these students wanting to cling onto childhood a bit longer. I happened to attend an lgbt event at Oxford. There was no drinking, that wouldn’t be a safe space. It was filled with nerdy looking women and men who a few years ago would probably have been emo. Lots of dyed hair, rainbow hoodies, pokemon t shirts. The activity was crafting and colouring and making plush toys. It really didn’t seem like the kind of social event that students usually do.

Mytholmroyd · 21/05/2023 18:47

That article you linked to @NicCageisnotNickCave - whilst about a tragic death - reads like a weird parody of that sort of press report as you read further down - especially the bit about 'miraculously' locating his bike and the fundraiser. Very odd.

How on earth do such delicate little petals get through the day?

IKR 🙄She says "I'm pretty harassed, alarmed and distressed right now"...over a bloke wearing a billboard with the definition of dad on it 😆So either she doesn't know what the meanings of harassed, alarmed and distressed are (in which case she doesn't deserve a place at Oxford Uni), or if she actually does feel harassed, alarmed and distressed then perhaps her parents should spend some money on getting her a bloody good therapist to help her get a bloody grip. Or at least she should get an appointment with her GP to discuss why her MH and resilience is so poor.

RoseslnTheHospital · 21/05/2023 20:14

She's using that turn of phrase in order to try and get him arrested, for a public order offence. I don't believe for a second that she is actually feeling any of those things or that she doesn't understand what they mean. It's manipulative behaviour.

Goodness knows how anyone is supposed to provide evidence that they are actually alarmed or harassed or distressed, given that those are internal feelings!

A week on this place would set her up for life.

toomanytrees · 21/05/2023 20:40

I don't think a person like this activist is ill educated or stupid. I think they are manipulative and dangerous. They are learning to be effective activist leaders, running a team of sad sack young people to do their dirty work. I see someone honing such skills as lying convincingly, presenting a case on TV, and using the magic words to claim faux victimhood. These people learn just how far to push, how close to stand, etc. Such a person reminds me of the man in the Laughing Auditor video, older than the other activists and seemingly in control.

Good grief. Colouring? Making soft toys? Are you sure you hadn’t stumbled into a pre-school by mistake?
