Hi, just thought I'd start a thread as have seen threads recently about campaigning but not about the actual elections.

I live in a Tory-controlled area which has recently been in the news for bad mismanagement and Lab and LDs snapping at their heels here in different council seats. I don't necessarily want the Tories in but also worried now about the impact on local women's services if anyone else gets in - we currently have good council-run leisure facilities with clearly sex-segregated changing and a local SARC that is female-only.

I am worried these things will be lost.

How is everyone feeling/ voting as we move into Thurs?

I exchanged emails with our LibDem candidates. They ALL came down as opposed to men in women's sports and women's prisons; one was well up on pink leggings bad wig rapey man and very aware of the shit-show in Scotland. Unlike the party itself, which essentially told me to fuck off about 3 years ago, they could see self ID is a nightmare.

So I voted for them, while making it clear that I will not be voting LibDem in the general election unless the party sorts out the anti-woman crap which has addled it's collective brain.

And one even emailed back to say yes, that was something the national party needed to address.

Two of them got in. I'll be keeping an eye on what they get up to.

I wouldn't worry about a 2nd EU Referendum @Grammarnut .
Only way it's going to happen is if the Lib Dems Libdems win circa 330 seats and form the next government. Even then the Referendum would have to be won - and it won't be a Simple Majority after the last mess.

After overcoming these huge obstacles there is the small matter of persuading 27 other nations to accept Britain's application. Good luck with that.
In short , there's more chance of Fr Ted Crilly becoming the next Pope.

My LD understood the Scottish rapist and mentioned the Equality Act, (so far so good), but then said they preferred to stay away from the debate because ‘both sides’ get ‘so toxic’.
The ‘both sides’ made me angry enough not to vote for them. My pencil hovered over the cross-box next to their name but then rebelled as I recalled those words.

Having finally looked at the results of my ward as suspected my vote for C rather than L made not a jot of difference. It was 3 L before Thursday and 3 L after.

I am not worried about another EU referendum. And it would be very undemocratic to have a supermajority referendum (the Scottish version in c 1979 caused an almighty row no-one wants repeated). I just do not trust a party that calls itself democratic and then says it would act against a democratic vote.

The 1979 Referendum was even more bonkers than 2016. You need 55% of the electorate rather than the votes cast ? Never going to pass.

Why would it be undemocratic to have a third Referendum though? The Leave campaign would still be going for one if they had lost if Farage is to be believed. Anyway its irrelevant.....

@SapphosRock that is good.

Tbh I spoiled my ballot last election but.... in spite of how utterly foreign it feels.... I might vote Tory.

I have started to feel like spoiling my ballot isn't enough of a statement, you know?

It’s not, it’s a wasted vote because they don’t care as long as you don’t vote against them, why would they? It’s no skin off their nose.
