Regarding the NHS Chelsea and Westminster service for "masculinising" genital surgery there is an FOI which gives more details here.

"Chelsea and Westminster have confirmed that the required infrastructure is
in place for the service. This includes provision of beds for 3-5
inpatients at any one time, accommodated inside rooms for privacy. Theatre
capacity has been released five days a week, by repatriating lower
complexity cases to the treatment centre. As an outcome of the additional
funding made available by NHS England, their plans include provision of
2.0 WTE consultant anaesthetists, 2.0 WTE clinical nurse specialists and
1.0 WTE tissue viability nurse. The Critical Care Unit on site has
recently undergone an expansion and now has 15 ITU beds, of which 4 are
HDU, and arrangements are in place for transfers to this unit as needed."
3-5 beds reserved for these patients. I don't know about C&W but at my hospital I regularly see queues of ambulances waiting to offload as I drive out at the end of the day. And we not infrequently have to cancel planned admissions for a particular procedure due to lack of beds.
They say it will not impact other surgery because they are outsourcing other surgery to private treatment centres.
And if particular note the plan includes provision of a whole time tissue viability nurse. For those who don't know TVNs are concerned with wound healing, more specifically wounds that AREN'T healing and require ongoing specialised care.
It's almost like they know these operations are problematic.
