In section 6 Anti-LGBT+ Section hopenothate.org.uk/2023/02/26/state-of-hate-2023-rhetoric-racism-and-resentment/

As you can imagine that insane group Actual Gender Critical Left (basically a tiny group of 3 or 4 women who think they are intellectual giants) are revellling in this.

As AGCL has been one of the main sources of smears and misrepresentation against PP they must feel they have achieved their aims. Note the comments from those who are also part of WPUK. www.facebook.com/groups/904109420071073/posts/1571864919962183/

Info about the overlap between WPUK and AGCL in a post on this page of the thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4662757-womens-place-uk-filia-event-the-elephant-ignored-yet-again?page=27&reply=121163378 See:

Although I have found the resources on the WPUK website very useful (saving the recent slagging off the bad GCs and utterly-evil-KJK articles) I have never been to a WPUK meeting and I didn't know who "the WPUK women" actually were. All I knew was that Kiri Tunks was involved and that Ruth "Domesticated Zombies" Serwotka had left but I didn't know who else was involved.

It doesn't say on the WPUK website so I looked on Companies House. If there are other "WPUK women" I have no idea who they are, but it would be good to know.

which has other info as well.

I honestly wish mumsnet had a feature where you could have one of those massive crime type pin boards with all the suspects and their links to each other using pieces of string at the top of some threads!

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/02/2023 00:40

Interesting. Thanks @IwantToRetire

I was very pleased to see Baroness Nicolson saying on Twitter that she wants to attend the SfW Speakers' Corner. I think she'd put a rocket up the arses of the police there.

TheBiologyStupid · 28/02/2023 00:52

So Hope Not Hate can find space to mention that Hearts of Oak livestreamed KJK's Brighton event, but not to mention that they did so from a public space and without getting - or needing- any permission to do so. (Alf up a Tree posted a great video documenting the activities of the HoO filmmaker on the day: m.youtube.com/watch?v=1eUXHb8qM5U )

They also can't find the space to mention the "Decapitate TERFS" placard in Scotland or any of the other hatred spewed by TRAs. And everything is framed using the very partisan term "anti-trans".

Plus they sympathetically quote drag queen Aida H Dee, but fail to mention that that individual has just been fundraising for the funeral of a convicted child-rapist.

This kind of one-sided "reporting" does HNH no favours at all and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Oh it's 15 minutes long, might as well make myself a bacon and Stilton bagel and a cup of tea before I settle down to watch it (all the talk of food on these boards and I actually forgot to get my tea! Or if I did I've forgotten about it!)

Boiledbeetle · 28/02/2023 02:41

Hats off to Alf up a tree. That video shows exactly how KJK came to be filmed by Hearts of Oak.

And after getting distracted by a video that came up after the Alf one. I'm finally going back off to bed.

Did she? Crikey, that's fabulous.

Did she? Crikey, that's fabulous.

She’s been before. (I may have got a selfie with her.)

It would be brilliant if she came when the police were there.

WarriorN · 28/02/2023 06:47

It's fascinating to see how easily misinformation and twisting of facts occurs so easily and quickly even in a digital world.

GoTeamRocket · 28/02/2023 06:57

Hope not hate - they seem like quite a hateful lot to me. Maybe they need to change their name.

Maybe they need to be called 'Hope to hate anyone who has a view that is different to ours. They are probably fascist anyway. We are definitely not, we are very left wing and Liberal.'

A bit long maybe..

TodayInahurry · 28/02/2023 06:58

Hate not Hope is a very nasty organisation, I never understood why civil servants listened to them. Hopefully this is now stopping. They treated JKR badly

JacquelinePot · 28/02/2023 06:59

KJK lives rent free on a LOT of people's heads, doesn't she?

I'm not convinced that even the laziest of journalists will bother doing anything with that, ahem, "report". What would they say?

"Nasty people agree with big, bad KJK that humans can't change sex. She sold a bunch of t-shirts and did a tv interview with a man we don't like". L. O. L.

WarriorN · 28/02/2023 07:04

I'd forgotten the hope not hate guy used to be in the national front.

It's interesting that society then thinks this is evidence that he's definitely sound as a pound at recognising what "hate" is. I'd say he's not v clever so why do they trust his every word?

Lisa Morgan has written a book on how politicians and leaders get the masses to comply with them "Comply with Me." I believe trump inspired it. She's basically an expert on coercion techniques that politicians use.

How that's evidence of right wing ism I'll never know.

Florissant · 28/02/2023 07:08

I've never heard of Hope Not Hate so I can't say that they're terribly influential.

Posie, on the other hand? I've heard lots about her and think she is fab. More power to your elbow, Posie.

2Rebecca · 28/02/2023 07:18

I'd never heard of Hope not hate. They have a weird website. Clicking on the link they look like a far right group with all the "no migrants" signs. They don't look very hopeful. I know the signs are examples of stuff they hate but I thought they were meant to be hopeful, not hating stuff. All very silly

WarriorN · 28/02/2023 07:30

They've risen via social media; specifically Facebook.

That bastion of critical thought.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 28/02/2023 08:51

I used to follow Hope Not Hate, back in the days immediately following the Brexit vote when tensions were heightened and xenophobia emboldened. They did some good work in that sphere, until it all became a bit too lazy and tribal and less effort to sling mud at anyone they could badge as a “fascist.”

I even went along to one of their community meetings, hopeful of helping to do something tangible to combat hate and division in the real world. Unfortunately it was two hours of being talked over and ignored by a couple of men who could not have been more of a “lefty man” stereotype if their names had both been Wolfie Smith (one unironically called the other “comrade”) - and I say that as a lifelong Labour voter, until the definition of “woman” fell out of their collective brain.

I was blocked from their FB page after posting some evidence of male physical advantage on a very TWAW post about sport. So colour me unsurprised to see their misogyny alive and well 🙄

WarriorN · 28/02/2023 08:54

Sounds like classic lefty authoritarianism

Tanith · 28/02/2023 09:06

What a coincidence that Let Women Speak was disrupted on Sunday!

zanahoria · 28/02/2023 09:15

One litmus I test I use for an activist charity is to go to their website and see if it is possible to join the organization. Hope Not Hate asks people to support and volunteer but there is no mechanisms to join.

It all seems very different to the 80s when it was easily possible to join anti-apartheid, CND etc.

If there are no members who exactly do they represent? Who runs it?

And if you are wondering, I learned this little lesson from studying the actions of Stonewall.

zanahoria · 28/02/2023 09:17

As a contrast, Standing for Women tells you that you can join.

inkjet · 28/02/2023 09:33

Thanks for the comprehensive reply OP.

I had heard of HNH but only because it used to get name checked on what was the Remainiacs podcast.

Yeah they didn't really have anything on her, but did say that expected her to continue to he successful. Which is nice of them.
