Equality Act - what next?

The petition to look at this seems sadly to have virtually ground to a halt:

Government have responded with a dismissive:

'providers are already able to restrict the use of spaces/services on the basis of sex and/or gender reassignment where justified. Further clarification is not necessary.'

What next?

We know that providers, while technically able to exclude males, just do not and will not. Nobody seems to agree on or understand the law fully. Legal experts get in huge tangles arguing about it.

The current situation means women are excluded from many women's spaces, there is no provision for single sex services apart from Beira's Place in Scotland, there are still males in women's prisons, and in hospitals.

What do we do if the government and EHRC won't listen? Whatever the law says, this situation is untenable.

@EndlessTea (upthread) was asking for a simple way to get through to people.

I've been leaving the petition cards on the back of toilet doors (often stuck there with a Nicola Sturgeon sticker 😃), on the free period supplies, by the toilet sinks if I think it won't get binned too quickly, on notice boards etc

In the past I've printed my own stickers with QR codes which I'm probably going to do again soon as I'm getting low on cards again.

I suspect JK is staying out because it might be easier to dismiss 100k if it's "just because fans signed".

I'm also wary that we could hit the 100k & STILL not get a debate because they only have to consider it for a debate...

As for what's next women continuing to scrape back our rights but by tiny bit at our own cost etc 😩

More than happy to go a stickering.

Just been for a look on WRN and SFW websites.
WRN has a load of merch with Save Women's Spaces, but no stickers for signing the petition.
SFW have stickers for Repeal the GRA, but not for this.

Cards are all very well, but stickers are easier and quicker.

Another thought, how about a shout out for more signings on Terf Talk Tuesday?

Sorry to be so ignorant but how do you test it?

I'd forgotten KJK was back on twitter, could someone ask her to tweet it. It's that or she gets arrested again, that gave the petition such a bump!

If you have the cards you can use them as stickers with a sticky dot or the book/map covering sticky plastic stuff (cut bigger than the card, apply card, put the paper back until you want to peel & stick.)

Or if you have access to a printer you can have anything you want with sticker sheets 😃
