Males over 12 now allowed to play in Ladies Gaelic Football

Just that. Males who claim to be women or girls can now play against girls and women on the pitch. Women and girls already get a much smaller share of state funding towards female sports. And, now this bullsht. No details of how they plucked this out of their collective ases arrived at this policy. Having female only sport meant that women and girls were included in sport.

The GAA support the Irish language, but surely any other language can now 'identify' as Irish. The Irish flag must be flown, but again surely they should be 'inclusive' and let any other flag identify as the Irish flag.

We unfortunately have a Taoiseach (PM) who supports this destruction of female sports. When the IRFU stated they would prioritise safety and fairness for women, he asked them to reconsider those aims, and talk to the men who wanted to play in women's sports. In short, just walk all over women in Ireland.

The red herring testosterone level is there, as if it turned men into women.
I confirm that [insert name of Applicant] has:
Transitioned/or is transitioning (as appropriate) from male to female and intends on living their life as a female, and
During the previous 12 months, has a total testosterone level in serum equal to or less than 10 nanomoles per litre (nmol/L).

This is bullish*t. Probably 20 times than most women. 10nmol/L is in the normal range for men. There are probably males on the Irish rugby team with that level. Irrespective; strange times if they're pretending that this level, or any level or lack of testosterone made a female out of a male.

I am so pissed off. I am in gaelic for mothers and others and my daughter playing ladies underage. I am.also an officer of our club. If they look to include a male in the club or I have to play against one I will immediately resign.

Do you know if any of your colleagues share your view? Would you, or any others, be brave enough to say no and wait for them to sack you and explain why you said no?

I wouldn't blame you in the slightest if you wouldn't do that.

Re the Rachel McKinnon photo - what would it look like if the 3 top places were all taken by ‘transwomen’? Would that be a wakeup moment?

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/02/2023 16:45

Were I a mother of a player in this sport, I think it would come down to two issues for me, even if a trans woman never plays and no girl or woman is ever hurt as a result of this rule.

  1. This organisation is supposed to be for girls/women but is not keeping the safety of girls and women as a primary concern so is unsuitable - they can't safeguard or protect girls so girls shouldn't be having anything to do with them;
  2. Girls and women are an end in their own right, not just a prop to validate men who aren't comfortable in their own gender identity.

Cailleach1 RTÉ reported, briefly, on their Twitter feed about Sturgeon and controversy over the male rapist in a women’s prison in Scotland. I have no memory of them getting involved in reporting the male sex offenders being housed in Limerick women’s prison. A couple of TDs mentioned the similarities between Scotland & Ireland, and were given an anodyne and unhelpful response from the Govt.

It’s baffling to me how people (sporting bodies, politicians, and journalists in this case) can stop themselves from thinking things through to logical conclusions on the issues surrounding sex-based women’s rights. The cognitive dissonance would explode my head 🤷‍♀️

I have noticed that in Ireland the narrative around Sturgeon is that, similar to Ardfern, the pressure on women in politics is the reason for her resignation.
A bit ironic for someone who cannot define the meaning of the word "woman".
Sturgeon had no problem with the vitriol shown to women such as Joanne Cherry. She resigned due to the questions around financial issues and her reluctance to misgender a double rapist.
But it is much easier to move the focus away from the real reason and instead pretend to be concerned about the difficulties women face in everyday life. Anything rather than discuss what actually happened.

The Countess group have issued a statement and a short template letter to send the LGFA:

A BBC Radio Ulster reporter is in contact with them on Twitter:

The photo last year of the biological male who identifies as a woman, playing gaelic football against an underage girl should have been a wake up moment.
Instead, it was reported very sympathetically towards the Transwoman and that those who spoke out were spreading misinformation.

Looking at that photo, how anybody cannot see that it's a total travesty is beyond me.

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/02/2023 18:02

It is shocking. I don't understand why safety and fairness are being so casually disregarded. As a sport, it won't exist without female players but they're just taken for granted.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 20/02/2023 18:03

Cailleach1 · 18/02/2023 21:37

It is just so depressing, isn't it? It is so contemptuous of females, female achievement and female sport.

It really is - and I think what you say about the contempt it demonstrates is true not just of this particular issue but of the whole so called “trans rights”/gender identity ideology movement in general.

It is all rooted in profound contempt, on a societal level, for female people.

I was never fully aware of that until this movement started chipping away at the rights we had only just acquired; like many, I thought attitudes had really changed, and women’s place and equal footing in the world was now just a matter of inevitable continued forward movement.

How wrong I was. There’s certainly nothing like this movement for bringing about 21st century consciousness raising, as we see over and over again the clear contempt, the shocking lack of value in which we’re held. And the extent to which internalised misogyny holds sway, even in women who self describe as feminists.

Sorry, bit of a tangent. I’m sorry that all of you who love the sport are having to deal with this, as with every other manifestation of this modern day misogyny on stilts. But we will wake up the world eventually. Solidarity from across the water!

StephanieSuperpowers · 20/02/2023 18:05

It's right across the western world, really, we're all in the same conflict. The only thing that changes is the specific local circumstances.

SinnerBoy · 20/02/2023 18:09

StephanieSuperpowers · Today 18:02

It is shocking. I don't understand why safety and fairness are being so casually disregarded.

It truly is, isn't it? All in the name of being kind and progressive, to the detriment of the majority of people (girls and women) who are involved in sports. I'm gladdened by what seems to be an increasing number of people being prepared to say, "Now hang on a minute, this doesn't seem right..."

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2023 18:24

It’s contempt for women and girls

same as in Scotland

inclusive. Is it fuck.

it’s exclusive

Paddy O Gorman who is an occasional RTE contributer covers the Limerick Prison situation on his podcast. With interviews with women who were in jail with the TW. He's had a couple of episodes on it. He's obviously been deemed a hateful bigot for this but is standing firm on covering it.

Your use of underage here is really disingenuous. This was not an underage match.

I know many of you don’t care who you lay in bed with once they agree with you on this issue, and so pointing this out is probably pointless. But using Gript as a source is akin to quoting Breibart.

Lol at “disingenuous”.

Go on then, Flounder, make the case for biologically male people competing in sports that were set aside for biologically female people on the basis that female bodies are very different from male bodies.

Let’s hear what you’ve got. And no disingenuousness from you, while you’re about it!

  1. Is what to they're saying incorrect?
  2. What source is acceptable?
  3. Do you have a link to an acceptable source reporting on this story?

Lol all you want. But at least be truthful when you make your arguments. You believe in it, therefore no need to make false statements, surely.

I will turn down your kind offer thank you. I have long since come to the realisation there are few on here who are interested in actual discussion or open to considering alternative viewpoints on this.

Bottled it, in other words - because you know you don’t have an argument, just your vile, misogynistic, male supremacist-based sophistry and lies.

And you have the brass neck to call others disingenuous, you, a promoter of the most dishonest, unreasoned codswallop ever seen in the modern western world.

Shameless.

I didn't say it was. My post clearly states that I was referring to the photo, not the entire team. The girl in the photo playing against a biological male was underage.

I also said girl not girls, which would have implied an underage match.
But good effort at trying to distract away from what actually happened.

I did think Flounder would at least have a go with the traditional clownfish argument, given his/her username; but was sadly disappointed.

I guess I just need to scale down my expectations. Maybe another plaice would serve the porpoise better.

It’s almost like Flounder isn’t here in good faith. And can’t defend his/her position, so resorts to unjustified attack.

Go figure.

I have no need or desire to defend my position to anyone on here. I attacked no one, I merely made a couple of points. I wish you well in your echo chamber.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 20/02/2023 20:05

We can all read what you posted.

And we can all see how you whine about women defending our sports against male invaders, but have no actual argument at all in support of those pisstakers.

Bye now.

Don’t let the door hit you on your male supremacist arse on the way out.
