Excellent piece by Madeline Grant - I don't think it's been shared yet:

Rehabilitate? You can prise them off my cold, dead feet.

What a cracking move by Nicola's synchronised floor gymnastics team there, performing the high tariff humiliating reverse-ferret and executing it perfectly, the crowd will certainly want to see more of that 😂

turbonerd · 01/02/2023 16:06

I read the article on another thread. Glorious!

Though I’m afraid I can’t align/ally with such blatant crocophobes. Possibly fascist and racist aswell. That’s a fact. Probably.

For anyone who has not yet seen this but might like to take a look and possibly sign and share it, this is a Parliamentary petition to Update the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological sex.

Are you on the other side of Birkenstocs v Crocs ? Can we no longer be friends?

See I don't even know how to spell the first one

PetitPorpoise · 01/02/2023 16:28

For me, while I don't know about the figures, I find the anorexia comparison very powerful.

It's very hard for the #bekind-ers to argue that they would support a dysmorphic person with an eating disorder to love and care for their body, but also support a dysmorphic person with a gender issue to remove healthy body parts and inhibit puberty.

MrsJamin · 01/02/2023 16:31

It's brilliant but I think the Telegraph readers have got it now - please let this kind of thing be in the left-wing press such as the guardian or BBC!
It was the rape in the hospital that I think was one of the most jaw-dropping examples of women being utterly shafted by the public institutions that should be caring for them. I still don't think most people know about this or would believe it to be true.

My top tip for reading Telegrapgh article: click on link then immediately go into airplane mode or turn off WiFi. If you so it quickly enough it stops the pop up about subscribing from appearing.

The ED/GD comparison has really stopped me in my tracks! So obvious yet I didn't join the dots. Feels so similar.
My teen (proudly GC) daughters wear crocs and Birks, they adore them. Going to buy some new ones for them tomorrow as the old ones have worn out!

Johnduttonsbuttocks · 02/02/2023 08:12

Another Croc fan checking in.

Boiledbeetle · 02/02/2023 08:35

Alright, everyone here?. ....can I have some shush at the back please?

OK on with this the first CROCS only meeting.

Security! Security!

Can you deal with Janice over there. She's wearing knock off Crocs.

We your Croc overlords.....

I'm on a limited budget, can't you show a little compassion.

Ohnohedident · 02/02/2023 08:45

Oooo, that last sentance!

HagoftheNorth · 02/02/2023 09:21

Can anyone summarise the comments please?

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2023 10:15

This thread has really gone downhill.

Won't someone think of the tryptophobes?

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2023 10:17

*trypophobes. Where did that extra 'T' come from?

And by the way, we ALL know what the B stands for in LGB and it aint plastic clogs.

Look I think you really need to reframe your phobia.

And whilst you are entitled to your views on the Birks unless you are prepared to except that Crocs can sit on your shoe rack at any time I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave.

You are literally hurting the Croc overlords feelings.

The management.

ResisterRex · 02/02/2023 10:29

Crocs should be outlawed #nodebate

Thanks. I think it's probably quite complex - of course there are lots of co-morbidities in young people with gender issues. Cass is hopefully going to shed more light on this.

re Co-morbidities

my anecdata is that my ASD child, plus many of her friends, are 'Trans'.
School vociferously encouraging it (School trips to Pride marches too)
The liklihood that 75% + of a friendship group (of 8) ALL genuinely having gender dysmorphia is vanishingly small. 6 of those 8 are Dx with ASD though...

For me the most important line in the article is the comment about Adults abdocating responsiblity for young people's MH difficulties.

GoldenPineapple88 · 02/02/2023 10:53

Fantastic article. Thanks OP for posting.

I'm going to share this one far and wide!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/02/2023 11:03

My one quibble with the article is the bit about the NHS rape case. For those who already know about that particular event it's fine; but a reader coming to it new could very easily get the impression that the trans person in question was post-op, and that trans by definition = not fully intact male.
